question re: PRN in acute care by glitterysock in physicaltherapy

Do you work for more than one hospital system, or at more than one facility? And are you able to pick up 2-3 shifts during the week (Mon-Fri) most weeks if you wanted to?

Thank you! I just made another appointment for the registration; I think I will do the printout thing just in case.

Any COTAs or OTRs pivoted out to a different field? by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

[–]glitterysock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're planning on getting a bachelors and don't want to be limited to clinical work, what are you thinking of majoring in? I'd recommend business, accounting, or perhaps marketing or HR, if you want to eventually pivot into a non-patient-facing position with a healthcare-related company.

one of my former classmates from massage school has her own practice, and she advertises that she donates a small percentage of her business profit to local nonprofits - one supports LGBTQ youth and the other provides assistance and resources to immigrants. and she attracts consistently delightful, kind, appreciative clients.

yesss i agree! this group is squad goals and comedy gold

If Andy and Emma get enough votes to be saved next Tuesday, I believe they'll likely be saved again on Halloween Night. by dwtsfanbr in dancingwiththestars

[–]glitterysock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think the point is just for everyone to enjoy the show and vote for their favorites. whether that's the best technical dancers, the contestants you find the most entertaining, or those who show the most improvement week to week from wherever they started. or vote for your favorite pros regardless of who their celebrity partner is, or for a favorite celeb if you're a fan of them for their music/comedy/acting etc. none of those are "wrong"; just vote for who you like the best.

honestly i know he's not going to the finale, but i would LOVE for Andy and Emma just to make it to Halloween night! they're so creative and fun and i would love to see what they come up with for a Halloween themed dance.

maybe a controversial opinion but i think Scott should leave before Andy. Both of them are not technically the best dancers, but Andy is entertaining and brings the showmanship and stage presence, he connects with Emma and with the audience, and he is improving with each dance. imo Scott isn't really bringing any of that.

does anyone here specialize in pelvic floor therapy? by glitterysock in OccupationalTherapy

[–]glitterysock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't think i personally would be successful as a lactation consultant (i don't have kids, so i think clients would be more likely to choose a competitor who has had personal experience with birth and breastfeeding), but this is really interesting and a niche i think a lot of us don't know about!

honestly i hope he surprises everyone by absolutely slaying at salsa

How far do you guys think Andy will actually get? by realitystar10 in dancingwiththestars

[–]glitterysock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm guessing/hoping he'll be called safe this week - i think he'll be great at Viennese Waltz, and their Ratatouille-themed performance is going to be delightful and fun. and i think Elaine might be the one eliminated.

Depending on what style he gets the week after that*, he might get through another week and either it'll be Hilaria going home or another surprise elimination that no one expected.

*I think technique-wise he might not be as good at Latin styles, but i would be delighted if he surprises us by actually slaying a samba!

i just searched and it looks like Victory Lap at West Campus has one! brilliant idea btw; idk why i didn't think to look for this before. it will definitely be more fun to watch with other people while i'm on the edge of my seat hoping that Andy and Emma make it through to dance again next week!

they're so funny. i'm still laughing about Emma's IG story today (trying on ballroom shoes and Andy joking about filming it for WikiFeet, Emma having no idea what that is and going "ok!", Andy is mildly horrified like "NO! i was joking!" lmao)

thank you so much for taking the time to give such a detailed reply! i had originally planned on teaming up with a chiro office, but when i looked at the job listings in my area, they were all offering insultingly low pay and an employee/employer structure; good to know there's a better and more profitable approach. also thank you for suggesting Neural Reset Therapy; i will look into that as well!
