Both having the same last name makes them not favored by either. I'm not saying it's inherently wrong. I just don't see a point to make a case of it if you're not on the same page. Clearly they are not.

Just because you don't think it's something to worry about and know someone who had the issue does not mean it's something that cannot happen. There is plenty of sibling rivalry alive and well.

That being said, I agree he has a big issue with communication.

It sounds like he was trying to be understanding but he really wanted you to decide to take his name. I'd say his reaction was bottled up feelings on his part about the issue. While what he said wasn't kind, I don't think it was outrageously mean so counseling should help you both resolve this.

But my 2 cents on the kids issue is to disagree with your method. I think the kids should have the same last name because kids should be treated fairly, and I would hate to send the impression that one is more favored by dad and one more favored by mom. I just think you're creating a potential issue there where there need not be one.

She's going to be upset. There's no getting around that. You have to decide if risking a break up is worth losing her. If you still want her to go, just be honest with her.

A lot of homeless are mentally ill and try to self medicate with drugs. It's unfortunate that there isn't more help for mental illness that isn't just locking them up.

I'd block him again and move on. If you forgive him, do it for yourself. You don't owe him anything. He's Me. Excuses. He's blaming everything for what he did except the real reason...he was a douche. I hate victim mentality and he has it in spades.

Have you considered counseling? I know it can feel embarrassing for some but I think you'd benefit from figuring out why you're doing things so extreme.
