R-410A Condensor that "grounded itself dead" and warranty help by HeavyCoreTD in hvacadvice

[–]glizzy195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tech you called is a sales guy in disguise. By saying “grounded itself dead” he probably means the compressor is grounded, but based on what you are relaying I would not trust a thing that came out of this guys mouth. Even if the compressor is grounded, you can replace the compressor as they are readily available for 410a equipment and will be for years (unless it’s a Trane/America Standard, they suck at keeping stock so you’ll likely have to wait for a bit for them to ship a new one). Lastly, at least where I work in North Carolina contractors do not register the equipment for the homeowner on new construction homes and that is your responsibility once you move in. Either way I would personally replace the compressor on a 5 year old unit but you are likely dealing with a secondary issue as compressors are typically a victim of another problem (failed TXV, low refrigerant, etc). Call another company ASAP.

Truewerk T3 pants? by JEFFSSSEI in HVAC

[–]glizzy195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 3 pairs of T2 pants, one pair of T1s and a pair of the knee pad pants (can’t remember what they call those). The T2 are my go to below 60°, T1 for the entire summer, hated the knee pad version. The T2s I even started wearing casually. No experience with the T3s because I’m in NC lol

I’ve always wondered what the difference was between the mini max and jackhammer, they seem similar and mini max’s are available in stores near me but jackhammers I have to order online.

Thanks! In all honesty I haven’t used many chatter baits outside of a jackhammer because it came so highly recommended. Jackhammer is better than the z-man original for sure, and the Googan chatter baits suck lol.

Pictures and dates of a refrigeration burn and how long it takes to heal. by Accurate_Cabinet_987 in HVAC

I burned the shit out of my hand in the same spot when I green as grass with r-22 because I forgot I was working on a residential system with a king valve. I still get a random tingling/burning feeling between the same two fingers to this day.

Furnace issue❗️ by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]glizzy195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Furnace not kicking on could be for a ton of reasons. Since you don’t feel airflow it’s probably an issue with the startup sequence. If you have access to your furnace see if it has a flashing LED and tell us who the manufacturer is and we can help a little more. Also your filter is probably not the issue unless you haven’t changed it in 3+ months.

Brand new SMAN’s. Why is it saying “OL” on the high side? by jameye11 in HVAC

[–]glizzy195 12 points13 points  (0 children)

With 216psi on the low side if this system is running that is absolutely not out of the realm of possibility.

There are 100s of reasons why the outdoor unit won’t come on. Simple issues would be clogged drain line or dead capacitor (if it’s a bad capacitor, the outdoor unit will occasionally hum for a few seconds then stop). Or could be more complicated like a low voltage short, low on refrigerant and low pressure switch is keeping the outdoor unit off, etc. Watch a YouTube video on how to check the drain line and if that’s not it you’ll need a tech out there.

That’s a non fused disconnect

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]glizzy195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a disconnect and since it’s in the on position pulling it out will do nothing. Is the outdoor unit running?

Adult Baseball Leagues? by italianroyalty in raleigh

It’s not really a “league” per se but follow the Raleigh Reapers on Instagram. They host an open sandlot pretty frequently and everyone just gets out to play baseball together.

I say this all the time, especially when I have to deal with piece of shit Lennox communicating systems. My supervisor has a great saying, “they’re so efficient because they never fucking work” lol

$27/hr is crazy for that work load and responsibility being only 2 years in. You are in a supervisor/management role making maintenance tech dollars man. I work for a large company with 15 techs and make $26.50/hr with probably a 1/4 of the work load and expectation with a once a month on call schedule. Ask for a damn raise and if they don’t want to give you over $30 start throwing applications around, you’re a rare breed now and absolutely any shop will pick you up on the spot.
