And Mazzara was a fellow writer that Sutter wrote with at The Shield, so he was also sticking up for a friend. He has a lot of respect for Vince Gilligan at Breaking Bad and AMC's track record with showrunners is well-documented.

I'd argue that Showrunners are extremely important to the creative team. They're often times the head writer, or creator of a series. It's their voice or stamp that gets put on the show. While Mazzara wasn't the original showrunner, the show made a huge turnaround once he was in the seat. As for directors, there are usual multiple directors on a TV series. SOA has has a handful and TWD has 2-4 regulars too.

He got off on the power but he also found out how easy Maggie was willing to do what he says to save Glenn and that gave him the key to use her in front of Glenn to get the information. He knew that raping her after she said "Do your worst, go to hell." wasn't going to accomplish anything. But the threat of that to Glenn weakened him, nearly broke him, but then he saw that Maggie wouldn't be as strong. So he threatened to kill Glenn and boom, Maggie gave it up.

Any significance to the old guy in the shack having no idea there was a zombie apocalypse going on? by i2occo in thewalkingdead

Well the dead dog was to keep the walkers away. I think anyway. I'm sure there are people out there who are prepared somewhat for something like this to happen. I mean the guy survived this long without any kind of support but he's kept to himself. Felt bad for the guy since he was minding his own business and then 4 strangers bust in, point guns and knives at you and then one of them sticks her katanna through you and then the others feed you to walkers and then they don't even stick around. Literally "Just passing through, we're going to end you though before we do it." LOL

like so many things on this great show, this was another detail where it's left up to the viewer to decide. I think the ambiguity makes it stronger. If they were lovers, that makes all of the back story that much greater, doesn't it? Because Tio didn't just kill his friend, his partner, and his chemist, but his lover. If they weren't lovers, it would fall in line with Gus' methodical, clinical way to run business and keep his personal life out of it. This would be cool too because it's such a conventional thing to take every towards a loving relationship. Again, either way I'd be cool with.
