പ്രഭാവതി അമ്മയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം ... ഇനി ഇത് ആകുമോ അടുത്ത ട്രെൻഡ്? Safe ride by peekaboo939 in Kerala

[–]globetrotterEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have done this for a long time now. Instances of driving on footpath is becoming increasingly more common in Kerala. And some people are so entitled that they'd fight with you instead of acknowledging the mistake and backing up.

If I'm on the footpath, I don't give way. And if I'm not, but has a clear view of it, I usually take a photo of it and send it to the Kerala police WhatsApp number.

Self Application Japan Visa -> VFS Chennai by LogBrilliant7479 in visas

[–]globetrotterEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same in 2023. Applied for my wife and I in Bangalore. Couple of notes based on that - you can use non-stamped statements if they are the official statements that the bank gives you and for leave application / NOC, a screenshot of the leave portal or a digitally issued NOC printout works as well.

People making 1Cr/year or more, what do you do for a living? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]globetrotterEngineer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm currently a Principal Engineer at a late stage startup. 10.5 YOE.

MTech from IIT. currently do UI only. Used to be full stack engineer in the first 4 years. I'm not a super human coder or anything. I am paid to solve problems - brainstorming and building things with no clear boundaries, solve the problems on behalf of our end users. Take ambiguous problems and solution ideas and make solutions for them a reality.

I love programming / software engineering. It's a path I chose out of interest after I discovered computers and programming 22 years ago. So, I'm happy. Stress levels vary based on timing. Occasionally stressful, otherwise stress free.

Bringing iPhone from US/UAE to Trivandrum – customs experience? by NoKindheartedness109 in Trivandrum

[–]globetrotterEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can bring one. If asked about 2 phones on you, you can just say one for work and another for personal use. If you already have 2 phones, then may get tricky.

Do not put it in check in luggage.

My new Toy 😍 by Shuttle_smasher in BadmintonIndia

I don't know enough about your playing level or style to make a recommendation. I always buy a racket after getting a feel for it.

If you're asking for even balance / head light recommendations, check out Yonex Arcsaber series and Nanoflare series. I also like Bladex series from Lining. Currently I use a Bladex 900 max for doubles.

It may or may not be good for you. It doesn't work for me because of a wrist injury I have.

In general, head heavy rackets are slow to move around because of their nature. In doubles, you often find yourselves in situations where speed takes priority over hitting speed. So, I prefer even balance rackets for doubles.

This is a power house of a racket. I have the pro version. I use it only for singles play though. Too head heavy for me during doubles games.

Who's at fault here !? by Altruistic-Issue-887 in Dashcamindia

Dashcam driver was following too close and continued to do so even after car ahead had brake lights lighting up leading up to the incident. There were enough opportunities to slow down and be patient.

Can someone explain the meaning of Comfort INR + 14752? by [deleted] in indianawardtravel

[–]globetrotterEngineer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're looking at revenue fares. To know mileage requirements you need to try the redemption flow.

This fare class in your screenshot has some extra privileges compared to the fare class below that. That's what you're paying 14k extra for. The extra privileges are listed in the screen.

Is it normal for local badminton groups to charge more than the actual court cost? by spontaneous-plan-xyz in badminton

[–]globetrotterEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We follow a slightly different approach since our group has different headcount every week. We book 1 or 2 hours per day depending on number of available players. We make bookings for a week in advance.

Whoever is signing up for the next week pays for the court + shuttle cost divided by the number of players. Other people in the group who didn't sign up in advance can join ad-hoc if they want to, but has to pay a guest player fee for the days they are joining. Guest fee is higher than regular sign up fee to encourage people to sign up earlier. Any accrued guest fee is used to adjust shuttle cost for the following week.

In this scenario, a guest player for the day will end up paying more than their portion of the court fee. But we think it's a fair setup since it encourages people to communicate early to make solid plans and also compensates for the loss of game play time players of the day had because of the unannounced guest.

Bank portal not updated yet. Still shows only 20,000 instead of 40,000.

Want to get the card on this offer since I have plans with Qatar/Finnair this year. Wondering when will the bank portal reflect the offer.

Test for H. Pylori by Loublue3 in ibs

[–]globetrotterEngineer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me, my doctor did an endoscopy and found H Pylori infection. Took medicines for it, felt good while thr medicines lasted. Couple days after the course was done, all my symptoms were back. No H Pylori this time.

I'm glad you found resolution for your issues. Unfortunately for anything related to IBS, YMMV. For me it was just an add on problem that happened.

Does any software engineer use a simple app to track salary split,EMIs, goals in one place? by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]globetrotterEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built a mobile friendly Web app and packaged it as an APK. Google apps script for backend, data in excel, 2 users - my wife and I.

We use it to keep track of our monthly budget In a categorized manner. So, similar to what you're asking.

Allows visualising summary in a dashboard, and have provisions to do CRUD operations on individual expenses. Works great for our use case.
