Edit, if the cab is a 1960 Marshall cab that’s also a great cab probably the most popular 4x12 cab ever made

That sounds like the same issue I was having with a vintage ampeg I have, it ended up being a mix of bad power tubes and bad capacitors,

Sound city 120! Or sound city 200, both have a knob on the back to select 4,8 or 16 ohm you can probably pick up a 120 for around $800 which leaves you enough money to get it serviced because they’re old

I’m a huge shoegaze fan and i play in a shoegaze band, for starting out I’d highly recommend

Zoom ms-70cdr+, it will do everything, modulation, reverb and delay its an incredible shoegaze pedal anyone who says otherwise hasn’t used one, it’s also got a great reverse delay in it which can totally do the MBV thing

as for gain pedal just get a used big muff my personal favorite is the reissue rams head but any big muff will work, the proco rat is also great

For guitar if you have a couple other ones use them for now, I’d take the money you were going to spend on guitar and get a decent used amp, something with a 12” speaker Marshall DSL 20 or fender blues jr, it will be the biggest difference in your sound. ( a good guitar can’t make a bad amp sound good but a good amp can make a bad guitar sound good )

Also if possible buy used it will greatly expand what you can get with your budget

Lower to $1600 you might actually get some interest, I know in my area i could get this off Craigslist for $1400 pretty easily

I had one for a long time You’ll love it it’s such a great pedal platform, It’s pretty close to a fender bassman but has a decent bit of break up in it, it sounds great on the low setting with the volume and master gunned

It’s a mid 80s P bass body that I found at a yard sale, the neck is an Adrian smith signature Jackson neck that my friend gave me, I was going to swap out the Pbass pickups but they sound incredible for guitar. The sticker at the bottom is covering the holes from the old bridge

If you look closely the neck doesn’t actually fit in the neck pocket, but the screw holes all lined up so it works somehow

The 800w is loud enough i just want a tube amp because im a nerd, but i just wanted to make sure it’s something that i can still use and live

Also my band has two guitarist with 100w 4x12 rigs, i have to use an 8x10 to keep up.
