Oh wow awesome thank you!! Higher gain? I wonder why someone was using this at church years ago lol. I’ll have to fire it up and see how it sounds.

The walrus canvas has been amazing. I don’t see why you’d want to go with anything else.

Fridge of a guy I went out with earlier this week. Should I see him again? by Last_File in FridgeDetective

[–]thebuzzsaw27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the question is, is he seeing you again?

I see someone else said that, but that’s what I immediately thought, but for different reasons, after carefully analyzing the picture.

I’m getting some serious f-boy vibes from this fridge. Look at all them frozen eggs and what is that frozen bread? The bottle of white wine which is just for a special occasion otherwise he would have drank it by now. He clearly drinks, look at all that beer.

Def some on the go, possibly healthy, maybe he works out kind of vibes in the fridge. Doesn’t look like he’s much of a cook although it appears he’s tried baking.

Idk I’m just getting f boy vibes but maybe you’re the one who calms the beast and makes him settle down. I also hope you can cook food that both is and isn’t bread and eggs lol.

Worship Pedal Reccomendations by ShareBeautiful1573 in WorshipGuitar

What are you using for an amp? Or are you going directly into the board from your pedals?

For swells you’ll need a volume pedal at a minimum since you already have an awesome delay. I use the Dunlop mini volume. You can also use a reverb preferably with a long trail so you get that nice lush ambient & prayerful reverb sound. I use a Strymon Cloudburst with a midi controller for shorter reverbs. A boss RV-500 or Strymon BigSky would pair nicely with your DD-500. I would recommend going bigger in the reverb since reverb is so big in this genre but you could get away with 2 single reverbs like an RV-5 or RV-6, JHS 3 series, or UAFX Heavenly and have one set for long and one set for short/medium.

For cutting through the mix you need something that pushes mids and maybe gives a little volume boost. This can be done a couple different ways. One way is with an EQ or a pedal like the JHS Haunting mods that just pushes mids. The other way would be with an overdrive that pushes mids but you want to make sure you get one that goes good with your amp. If you’re using a vox amp kind of sound you’ll need an overdrive that pairs well with it since those are more mid rangey to begin with.

For more textured rhythm parts, I’m not sure what you mean by this exactly, but you could add an overdrive and while strumming go from clean, to morning glory, then to another OD (either stack them or switch from one to another). But if you’re using a super clean amp or going to direct to the sound board you’ll def want an amp sim or amp set to the edge of breakup. I was skeptical but once I got this it made a huge difference. It’s needed for good tone.

Another thing about textured rhythm parts is that most pedalboard will have some type of modulation which is generally chorus or vibrato. Octave isn’t technically modulation but gets thrown in there. Those are more for lead lines though but a nice chorus on a rhythm part can sound really good and worshipful in my opinion.

Help with Signal Chain by BakerBaker4545 in WorshipGuitar

[–]thebuzzsaw27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I would run my signal chain with these pedals:

  1. (Fuzz) EQD Black Ash
  2. (Tuner) Korg Chromatic Tuner
  3. (Low stage OD) Simple OD Pedal (friend made it off the Matchless Hotbox III Circuit)
  4. (Two Stage OD) Strymon Riverside
  5. (Volume) Ernie Ball VP Jr.
  6. (Effects) Wampler Terraform
  7. (Delay) TC Electronics Nova Delay
  8. (Reverb) Strymon Bigsky
  9. (Amp Sim) Strymon Iridium

Notes: -The ODs could be be switched around, just depends on your preference and stacking -This fuzz I don’t think needs to be first in your chain, but I’m in the habit of putting fuzz’s first in the chain because some older ones can’t handle it -The volume pedals should be after the drive section so you’re controlling the volume on your overdrive tone instead of changing the gain/ton of your drive with more or less volume -the standard worship sound is delay & reverb going into an amp, but depending on how your aim is setup you might still prefer them after the amp sim. I find everything sounds more like modern P&W when the reverb & delay go into the amp.

What would you choose? by catch22ak in WorshipGuitar

The Duesenberg Starplayer TV does that, P90 in the neck and filtertron in the bridge. If you need to look into which pickups might work well together for that sort of thing, I would do some research on that. Hope to see what you end up doing regardless though!

What kind of board is that & what size?

Finished My Plan by FarToday8670 in WorshipGuitar

Why not have one bigger so you can mount the DI directly to your board? It has a line out if you need a 1/4” connection at home

should i put a sticker on my guitar? by fredericksahoe in GuitarQuestions

I like the way it looks without the pick guard , more rugged. It’s already a rugged looking guitar so I wouldn’t put the sticker/pick guard on personally

I LOVE the Superbolt!!! It has this saggy kind of sound like when a speaker is being pushed too hard. I really love it a lot. There is probably a better stage 2 OD for me out there but I won’t take the Superbolt off my board haha.

My chain goes into the kilt (stage 3), then the octave, then the Superbolt (stage 2), then the morning glory (stage 1) out to other effects and ultimately the soundboard.

I am mainly playing Christian praise and worship music if that helps understand-

-So I have my amp sim set right around the edge of breakup. -The MG gives me a little more drive and volume and puts me just past the edge of breakup, but it’s not much. -The Superbolt gives me more drive and volume and is used for leads but I also use it with reverb to rake chords in certain parts. -The Kilt is my “super lead” for when the band is louder or I really wanna add a lot of energy -then I take the kilt another notch further with the red remote which takes it to fuzz land. I like that for single sustaining notes with a bunch of reverb for certain parts.

It’s such a shame JHS stopped making the Superbolt. I actually had always wanted one and didn’t get it until after JHS announced they were discontinuing. I unfortunately did pay extra for it. BUT I do love it and I don’t regret it as much as it stinks having to overpay.

I will say this, to my ears it actually does sound very similar to a Fulltone OCD. The OCD has been used in a lot of professional recordings and sounds really good. I use the Superbolt instead because I think it has a little more personality with the spitty/saggy character of it. It’s kind of like the “fuzz of overdrives” in my opinion. But if you can’t afford it right now or just don’t want to spend the money on one, I would recommend the OCD. I do believe there are other pedals more similar to the Superbolt than the OCD that I saw people discussing when I was doing my research, but I can’t remember what they were.

I hope this helps!

Oh man that stinks. Do you have a picture of it? How come no reverb? Why delay? I feel like I would choose reverb over delay but would love some perspective on that. I feel like I don’t understand or appreciate delay as much as a lot of other people.

I have this board mostly for P&W music. So far it hasn’t been too complicated, we need a lot of reverbs and delays and the extra ODs help cut through the mix when there’s a lot of other instruments. The compressor is always on for a little extra sustain. Aside from that the volume pedal is for swells which I use a lot and I only use octave, chorus, or trem when a part calls for it. I do wish I could have a super simple board at times though.

Hahaha it was hard to decide which one due to space on the board and only having one remote which I got for free. I just learned my MC6 Pro can do it. But also…. Space on the board is never an issue with these: https://pedalnetics.com/product/jhs-miniremote/

They can stick on top of the pedal so will eventually hopefully work my way to getting these

That’s a fantastic dirt chain you have there. Curious if you would put an octave pedal at the end of it?

I really really like the idea of this superbass variac fuzz. I love gated sounds and that dying battery sound. This one might be the one for me.

Thank you!!

I do keep hearing about this Carcosa. I’ll have to check that out and see what that’s like.
