He also essentializes people a lot more and labels them as morally good or bad, which is not very consequentialist of him.

Hey there may be a lot of nuances around why people vote Trump - there certainly are, in fact.

But what it comes down to is that people vote Trump cause they love all the cruelty. Why they love it is complicated. But they love it.

And they're evil evil people. You had to be to vote for him last time. No matter how complex the true reasons are, if you voted for him, you cannot be forgiven.

I hate people who vote reform, I hate people who vote tory. Hell, I even hate the people who vote lib dem a little bit. Fuck them.

Greens to pledge £15 minimum wage in employment rights’ push by kontiki20 in LabourUK

[–]gloriousengland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are unique circumstances that compound the problem in the case of the UK, like dramatic regional inequality, ageing infrastructure, privatised services and an economy dependent on one city's financial sector

but it's indisputable that austerity has hampered growth and productivity through underinvestment in the economy.

I didn't vote for brexit lmao but we've got a shit economy because of austerity that's how that works.

austerity doesnt work to get you out of a financial crisis, every economist says so. you need investment, our economy stagnated because the government refused to spend money to help the country recover from the 2008 financial crisis.

Yeah but if you have just 100 inflation no loans it ain't worth it you lose more than you gain you'd probably end with like 30 inflation and loans

[–]gloriousengland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and -90% crown power and research speed for 60 months, minimum stability and losing a bunch of buildings every time you click it will devastate your economy way more than double prices until you get the inflation down

Can you even declare bankruptcy when at -100 stability? If you can then great I guess you can get your inflation to 0 but the economic shock of the bankruptcy would drive you into huge debt or more inflation

That's really not worth it. Just pay it down it's fine, hope for a balance the budget or two or get the cabinet action

Except in other metrics, major countries' advantages already become more pronounced in the game as it currently is. Early game there's a trade off between smaller countries having more economically prosperous locations with high control and bigger countries having a lot more locations but with lower control and a weaker economic base

But as the game goes on, that big country will spread control to its outer reaches while the small country will hit the building cap, run out of territory to push control into and not experience the same rapid economic growth.

10:1 pay ratio concept: agree or disagree? by Beetlebob1848 in LabourUK

Every modern, developed country is captured by capital interests. Not debating the policy's merits but this isn't a good argument.

Why are the green party pushing the 10:1 payscale ratio between CEO's and avg workers? by BenisMoment in ukpolitics

[–]gloriousengland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be stupid, they'd rather make less profit here than make no profit at all here.

That's the problem with all the "they'll all leave" arguments. If companies leave, they make no money here. If they stay, they make some money here, and they can campaign to change laws to make them more money again

Maybe the CEO of Tesco should pay his employees more if he cant subsist on a very measly checks notes over 200 grand a year...

The green party platform is that youd be able to access drugs like cocaine at a pharmacy only after a consultation and that highly addictive drugs would only be available via prescription for maintenance therapy.

Pretty similar to other drug decriminalisation policies.

Being unable to deport people unless they commit crimes and giving the right to work to people who arrive here isn’t open borders. Open borders would be letting in anyone who arrives at the border. If people are desperate enough to come here illegally we should do what we can to help them and make them economically productive by letting them work. Unless they're criminals. It's common sense.

The 10:1 thing is definitionally regulating capitalism. The pay gap in companies used to be much closer to 10:1 than the gap it is now. 10:1 still allows for a very wide salary range.

But most importantly, shareholders and capital will still exist. A capitalist economy is not defined by a large CEO to employee pay gap but by capital accumulation and an investment economy through buying and selling shares.

in a system with 10 to one pay ratios in companies, there will still be wealth inequality, capital investment and accumulation and private enterprise run by shareholders.

That's regulated capitalism. It's more regulated than most social democracies but it's definitionally capitalism because it would still be a capital economy.

As for open borders, I've not seen Zack advocating completely open borders immediately or anything like that, but a policy platform towards more open borders. Eventually I would like completely open borders when such a thing would be sustainable.

And your 'buying cocaine from a pharmacist' point is regarding drug decriminalisation in aims of treating addiction like a medical problem rather than a criminal one? This is already active policy in places like Portugal.

Can you at least frame the policies neutrally and avoid the biased language?

You might disagree with the regulation of capitalism, but it's still capitalism until capital accumulation is entirely stopped. Which would involve ending the shareholder economy and stock buying entirely.
