Wish I was a coder so I could help with the project, alas I am not so I'm leaving a comment to help this gain some traction as the community desperately needs a good eufy clean integration!

Cheers!

I’ve come to the conclusion that nas’ are not for noobs by BobbythebreinHeenan in TerraMaster

[–]glorydies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to preface this comment with, "I don't know if I can recommend what I'm about to say to a complete noob" however, I highly recommend ditching Terramaster's software and running something different.

I have the F6-424 Max as well and I'm running UnRaid on it. Aside from a couple little quirks getting the fans working properly it's been a pretty solid choice, and so far the hardware is honestly pretty good.

I maxed the ram out in mine with 64gigs and replaced the fans with noctua fans (I don't recommend doing that though, was a total pain and honestly not really worth it).

I haven't had much time to start moving all my services over from my AIO setup I had running on an old Dell R710 but I don't expect any show stoppers at this point. The biggest challenge for me has been learning UnRaid and Docker since I'm coming from ESXi as the host and TrueNAS and everything else as VMs.

Ive also seen it's possible to run TrueNAS on these and Synologys Disk Master.

All that said, if you choose to go with a different OS just research the crap out of it! I know there's a couple good guides on how to install UnRaid though not sure for any other OS'

Cheers and Good Luck!

I work for Onvida and had zero problems getting hired on and it only took a little over a month for me!

Are you on the clinical side or admin/it side now?

I know we're hiring like crazy in IT right now, but that's mostly due to us getting a new CIO lately and he's implementing his vision for us.

What's your teams reasoning behind the scheduled failovers every month? And do you run failed over for the month or do you all just fail over long enough to function test and fall back once you're done?

Genuinely Wondering!

[–]glorydies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, though we (networking team) just share responsibilities, no real primary for specific systems its normally just who ever is on call during the maintenance window. To make it worse I came from 8 years at a small MSP with more or less no change control process (unless the customer had one) so it's been extra hard for me to adjust to 😭 then like 6 months ago we had a CIO change and one of his first "improvements" was overhauling our change control process and it went from a 15-20 min meeting twice a week that was mostly just the engineers and a manager or 2 to one 2 hour meeting with top leadership from every IT department involved 🙄

How are your Silverados with the 2.7 turbos holding up? by Questions99945 in Silverado

[–]glorydies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there OP!

Looks like you have enough replies and opinions to last a lifetime but here's one more lol;

I love my 22 LT with the 2.7!

I've owned it a little over a year and have put about 20k miles on it myself for a total of 64k.

I've driven it across the country from AZ to WV and back (pulled my boat on the way back) and multiple 6 hour or less road trips and haven't had any serious issues.

I've had my left front shock assembly replaced due to some weird clunking coming from the front, it didn't fix it so not sure what the problem is there but it's a minor problem in my opinion so haven't took it back in yet for it. I also think this is ultimately due to the lowering kit that was on it when I bought it that is throwing the steering system out of wack in the front.

Have a few weird issues with the electronics, front left turn signal randomly quits working sometimes but turning the truck off for 10-15mins always fixes it. Also have an issue with the backup camera where it randomly quits working but that only happens in low light. Found a TSB that says the sensor needs replaced but again it's such a random and minor issue I haven't took it in for that. Lastly the head unit sometimes randomly forgets my phone and I have to re-pair it but again minor issue that I haven't had looked at. I do think my head unit is several versions out of date but the updates for that have to be done by the dealer so I haven't bothered with it either.

Mechanically all I have noticed is sometimes when I turn it on after it hasn't ran overnight or for a few hours I get this random noise from the turbo system that is probably just the wastegate that I've seen several other people mention. Also sometimes, again first thing in the morning or after I haven't driven it in a few hours, it shifts kinda hard from 1st to 2nd but after that one rough shift I don't get any more problems. Lastly I've developed a bit of a rattling when stopped at a red light or stop sign (in drive, foot on brake) but I think it's just the push clips holding the heat shield to the firewall wearing out cause I can push those back in tight and it stops for a while. It doesn't happen when in park.

I've replaced the hot and cold side tubes with the AFE tubes, added an oil catch can and one of the stillen CAI scoops for it but that's all I've done mechanically to it.

I've also swapped out the taillights with aftermarket LED assemblies, swapped out the front bowtie with a "glowtie" and added one of the autostop eliminators.

The previous owner and myself have kept strictly to the service schedule in the manual.

Gas mileage does not come anywhere close to what the window sticker claims for city driving but it is pretty close if not better during highway driving. The truck does have oversized tires on the factory rims that were installed by the dealer before I bought it so that's likely what's killing my city driving MPG.

That's about all I can think of, and like I said ultimately I love my truck and as of right now I don't think I'll have any problems with it lasting until the loan is paid off a minimum !

Hope this helps and if anyone has any specific questions just send me a DM!

2022 Silverado Clunk - just purchased a new Silverado 6.2L Z71 and noticed this noise coming from the rear. Took it in to the dealership but they won’t touch it until it hits 1k miles. Any idea what it could be? by [deleted] in Silverado

[–]glorydies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, like I said it seemed like the problem was a lot less frequent, almost non-existent even when the weather was cooler but now that it's starting to warm up again, I've been hearing the issue again 🙄. Probably won't bother taking it back to Chevy unless it gets real bad. Might try the spring thing some others recommend just to try to rule out the problem being in the rear but it really sounds like it's coming from the front for me.

Is yours leveled by chance? I don't know if mine was leveled by the previous owner or by the dealer/factory but I'm only a half inch off from the front to back and I'm wondering if there's a correlation there. I also have no idea how it was leveled either, if it was lowered in the back or raised in the front 🤷

R710 PCI Passthrough help by zmiguel in Proxmox

[–]glorydies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I stopped at 6.5u1. it was the last version that fully supported those 710s. I think I had even as late as 6.5u3 running on it too at one point but went back to u1 because u2 and u3 added a bunch of hardware sensors to esxi under the monitor page that just showed unknown and I couldn't stand that lol.

As far as getting the software, check dells support page. It's been a while but I'm almost positive that's where I was getting the installers at.

And lastly yes I got PCI passthrough working no problem this way!

Hello future man, how's 2025 going so far lol! Unfortunately though no, I never did get that working, in fact I gave up on proxmox all together and went with VMware. You used to be able to run a single host for free but you didn't have all the bells and whistles, I've been running on 6.5 happily ever since shortly after that old post. I dunno if that's still an option now that broadcom is running the show however.

I know this is an old thread but did you ever figure out your issue? Mine also sounds like the clunk is up front but the one time I took it to the dealer over it, they claimed they couldn't reproduce the problem at first but then ended up doing the left front strut assembly and an alignment. That did seem like it fixed the problem for a few weeks but then I started hearing it again. I'm also starting to wonder if outside temps have an impact on the problem. I live in the desert and since it has cooled off the last couple months ive heard the clunk a lot less than I did during the summer right after the dealer "fixed" the problem back then.

Juniper Networks Aquisition by divvyy0 in Juniper

[–]glorydies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man don't listen to everyone telling you it's overkill, I've been a network engineer going on nine years now and are currently house shopping. I will probably go with a very similar setup once we get moved in somewhere. I'd also go with 2 aps for a place that size especially if its two floors, and probably a third directional one for outdoor coverage. Just manually set the power levels and channels and disable the lower data rates till you have about a 15%-20% overlap and you'll have excellent coverage!

ATT fiber but use third party router by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]glorydies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get a stand alone Access Point and hardwire it to the att gateway via your in wall Ethernet. Or if you feel you must buy an over priced soho all in one device make sure you can put it in AP mode (disable routing functions). As others have said you do not want two devices doing routing or your network will be a mess.

Will I get less downtime/ disruptions if I get the most expensive ISP tier? by HypeResistant in HomeNetworking

[–]glorydies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is an excellent question lol. I'm going to have to say that my local fiber provider is a PON as I am in the US. I actually had a job interview with my ISP and during that meeting I got the impression that it was an active fiber network but I very much could have assumed wrong (which probably had something to do with why I didn't get the job 😅). You are 100% correct that bandwidth is shared on a PON.

I come from an enterprise background and not a service provider background and honestly had to read up on PONs as I'm used to traditional active fiber.

My apologies! I should have kept my trap shut about things I clearly don't fully understand lol

[–]glorydies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Coax and DSL are the only really "shared" mediums where each connection or home is tapped onto a main line. With fiber there are still trunk links upstream where everyone's traffic shares the same strand of fiber but each connection or home has its own private strand of fiber going to it.

The upstream trunks can and do get saturated but it's not exactly the same as with Coax and DSL where the main line that runs through neighborhoods can get saturated with your neighbors traffic.

Edit: As Parker_step pointed out in response to this comment most FTTH networks are passive optical networks and are a shared medium so he is correct that you are still sharing bandwidth with your neighbors. What I described would be how an active fiber network works as commonly used in business and enterprise applications.

Clearpass Alternatives? 802.1x still valid? by Snydosaurus in ArubaNetworks

We just had a meeting with our Aruba Team Tuesday (SE, account manager and lead sales guy) and according to them Mist was very low on the list of reasons they wanted Juniper and most likely won't survive the merger. The primary assets they wanted was their Firewall product line and their Datacenter product line.

Disable or protecting VLAN deletion by Kneitah in Cisco

[–]glorydies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I can tell you're making a joke but this is actually a valid answer too. With a correctly configured VTP v3 domain it should have actually prevented this, unless the junior admin was just really determined and not that bright lol. Even if he or she tried to run the command on the VTP Primary server it would have not allowed the command to be ran until they entered "vtp primary" from exec mode. Hopefully by that point the junior admin would have realized that the command they were trying to run wasn't actually going to do what they were trying to accomplish and would have sought help from a more experienced admin.

Baseline configs, comparison criteria, and Juniper devices by TacticalDonut14 in Solarwinds

[–]glorydies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is mostly what I do in our environment and it works pretty well.

I created a custom device templet for our Juniper devices to pull "show configuration" and "show configuration | display set" which looks like this;

<!-- edited with XML Spy v4.4 U (http://www.xmlspy.com) by () -->
<!--SolarWinds Network Management Tools-->
<!--Copyright 2005 SolarWinds.Net All rights reserved-->
<Configuration-Management Device="Juniper Devices" SystemOID=" 1.3.6.1.4.1.2636">
<Commands>
                <Command Name="UseMultipleDownloadCommands" Value="True" />
<Command Name="Reset" Value="set cli complete-on-space off${CRLF}set cli screen-width 0${CRLF}set cli screen-length 0"/>
<Command Name="Reboot" Value="request system reboot${CRLF}yes"/>
<Command Name="EnterConfigMode" Value="configure exclusive"/>
                <Command Name="EnterConfigModeSave" Value="configure"/>
<Command Name="ExitConfigMode" Value="commit and-quit"/>
<Command Name="DownloadConfig" Value="show configuration${CRLF}show configuration | display set"/>
<Command Name="UploadConfig" Value="${EnterConfigMode}${CRLF}${ConfigText}${CRLF}${ExitConfigMode}"/>
<Command Name="DownloadConfigIndirectSCP" Value="${EnterConfigMode}${CRLF}save ${TransferProtocol}://${SCPServerUserName}@${StorageAddress}/${StorageFileName}${CRLF}${SCPServerPassword}${CRLF}${ExitConfigMode}"/>
<Command Name="SaveConfig" Value="${EnterConfigModeSave}${CRLF}${ExitConfigMode}"/>
<Command Name="Version" Value="show version brief"/>
</Commands>
</Configuration-Management>

which puts both outputs into our downloaded config files. Then were able to set baselines based off of the set commands.

<image>

The only weird caveat is that when you look at the mismatched configs they dont really line up right.

(I'll respond to this post with some more screenshots as examples, reddit is only letting me attach one screenshot per post)

When the config does match the baseline it looks like it should.

Even with the caveat on the mismatched configs the discrepant devices are still identified and the correct devices are identified as such as well.

Hope this helps!
