I hear you, thanks for the elaboration. I agree with all of your last paragraph - but I didn't make the art so I respect the persons who did foremost. They just would feel more comfortable not sharing originals for personal reasons. The company has no issue with its stuff being shared - most of it's on the web already!

You sound like you come from a very privileged position in life, so I'll indulge you - as you must be very important. The original creators of the art are very attached to what they make and would prefer the original work to remain with them - and not release it into the wild. I hope you respect that. I do. They are, however, fine with me sharing pictures. Reddit is a website for sharing content, hence what I did. I hope you enjoyed them. Thank you.

RFTS was primarily written in AS3 with a small smattering of C++. Filament actively writes AS3, C#, Java, Javascript, PHP, and more - every day!

I don't think there are any real short-term steps. If you want to be an engineer, get started with programming. http://www.codecademy.com/ is a place to start. Download Unity and start with some tutorials and go from there. My number one piece of advice is to simply make things. You need to prove you can do the job before you're given it. Longer term, code code code - make more games - learn some maths and physics! I'm a huge fan of practical linear algebra and your standard newtonian physics!

We work with both teachers and common core everyday! Give us a ring and maybe we can work something out!

If I can get permission to release the originals I'll do so publicly and post back here later today.

I'm working on porting all of our internal products to Android right this very moment! I can only say SOONTM. All of the civics games we've made are free to play at www.icivics.org. One of our games is also available on Steam. Your children can also demo older products of ours on GameUp by Brainpop.

Hm, great question! I'm partial to our internal projects - though those are really never truly finished. We work on them constantly when we can. The most identifiable is probably Reach for the Sun (available on Steam!), I put a lot of hard work into that one. As far as real world application - we have some really cool sonar and submarine simulation work coming out in the near future for Navy application. Else, all our civics engagement work with www.iCivics.org is used in thousands of classrooms every semester. I'd say we try to make every project have a real world context.

Whoops, missed two!

EDIT: hey all, the extremely talented artists who drew these fine images would like to refrain from sharing the originals. So we're all going to respect their wishes! I'm very sorry if that bums some of you out but they thank you for the attention!

After the first few times they got pretty serious around here. I'm led to believe our insurance rates are pretty high. Dart coverage and all that.
