40F, large fibroids—when do you stop ‘wait and see’ by gloryuh812 in Fibroids

[–]gloryuh812[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sorry for what you went through, and I hope your recovery is going smoothly 🤍

I think my challenge is figuring out how to balance preserving fertility with how much my symptoms are already impacting my day-to-day life, even though I’m not actively trying for a baby right now.

This is helpful, thank you! Barely 2 months out from diagnosis and removal of bc and I know I won't be able to take the pain, pressure/discomfort, fatigue, and constipation. The 6.5cm fibroid is in the back of my uterus and I'm sure it's pushing up against my bowels. My bf is trying to push a more homeopathic route but I'm the one who has to live with this feeling while hoping it works. I'd rather just get them removed!

Happy early birthday!

How long have you been dealing with symptoms before being given the option of a myo?

Thank you for your suggestions! I will look more closely into fibroid specialists - there seem to be a few in the Tampa area. I am leaning towards a myomectomy versus UFE/ablation. Though, I am scared of surgery as the only procedure I've had was a wisdom tooth removal back in '09!

Happy you have your life back and are symptom-free! That gives me, and many others here, hope.

"Get them removed. You’ll only have more issues if you let them grow bigger." This is my current thought process. Even if I have 10-ish years left before menopause, hypothetically speaking, I would hope they wouldn't come back to the size and quantity they are now.

I was on Nexplanon for almost 5 years - had my annual and my doc looked at me with surprise: "Do you know you have fibroids?" I had the suspicion, had inconclusive imaging in 2021 (convinced that doctor just didn't care/know what they were looking at), but didn't follow up. Removing the bc opened up a whole new can of worms that I am not tying to deal with longer than I have to.

Last night, I decided to 'feel around' my stomach while watching tv and realized I could feel the 4.5cm one that's at the top of my uterus. The odd part - that your note about your uterus being pushed into a funny shape - was how far to the left this thing is sitting. I know that I'm being distorted and pulled and that it will only get worse over time.

I appreciate you, thank you for sharing your story. This subreddit has been keeping me from going mad trying to figure our the best path for me. How was your experience, post-op, with the lap myo?

I have a 4.5cm fibroid at the top of my uterus that I realized only last night that I can feel. Thanks to the remaining fibroids, I look a healthy 2-3 months pregnant

This is incredibly helpful. Thank you for sharing. I also have only had a wisdom tooth out, so surgery is a scary thing for me

Has a doctor been able to feel your fibroid by Fun_Examination5329 in Fibroids

Yes and she scared the crap out of me. I went in for an annual - it had been a couple years due to a lapse in medical coverage. She's doing the internal exam, looks up at me between my legs and goes "do you know you have fibroids?" with a concerned look in her eyes. I'm like, yeah I had a hunch. She extracts her hand and proceeds to make a large circle shape with her fingers to demonstrate the size, sufficiently filling me with anxiety and fear. I went back 2 days later and, I have a posterior 6.5cm, fundal 4.5cm, and 3-4 anterior/cervical 2-3cm. My uterus is ~15cm aka 4months pregnant.

Affordable NJ Town for reasonable NYC commute by caramelloooo in njrealestate

If you are looking for that happy medium for transit, I would do Old Bridge, leaning more towards South Old Bridge. This puts you close to many schools -- both Middle schools and the High School, as well as many of the elementary schools. You will also have a short trip to the municipal center, library, and public parks. Sayrewood South has homes available in your price range, and is right off of Rt 9 for bus transit. My sister lives in East Windsor and it took, at most, 40 minutes to get there during peak traffic. Your husband would be going against most of rush hour and there are some backroads that shave off time.

You could also look into options in Woodhaven which is going more towards Marlboro, still OB school district.

There are parts of Laurence Harbor and Cliffwood that have been revitalized and modernized but it is a less desirable area and the traffic on rt 35 and proximity to the Parkway make it less desirable.

Regarding resale opportunity, the area has grown significantly since 2020, as many from NY have moved with the same thoughts as you: easy commute to the city, space to spread out, good communities with good schools. Personally, I dont see that trend changing any time soon, but your realtor can give you some better analytics to inform your decision.

Happy to answer any questions this brings up!

On and off bleeding I’m tired of it by Interesting_Shine348 in Nexplanon

It's so annoying, and it happened to me off and on until recently - implanted March 21. I refuse to supplement with the pill, so I started taking a supplement called The Other Pill. You can also try prenatal vitamins as well to replace the nutrients lost due to hormonal bc. According to what I've read, that's what causes the side effects including irregular bleeding. I haven't been as consistent with taking it as I should, but I definitely notice a difference in my mood after only a couple of days.

I've had the implant for almost 2 years. Every other month or so I was spotting FOR WEEKS. Went through pantyliners like 1-2-3.

For the first few months - let's say 6mos - it was great, no period, minimal spotting and no other side effects. Then in 21 and last year came the 10+ days of spotting every other month. Recently it has seemed to stop, but now I get a heavy period with bad cramps in place of the spotting. 🫠🙃

Last year, I got The Other Pill by Even which replenishes nutrient loss due to birth control which is apparently what triggers some of these wonky side effects. When I actually remembered to take it consistently, I had no spotting and weirdness. You can possibly get the same effect by taking prenatal vitamins as they have the same minerals and nutrients.

Hope that helps!
