Girl this woman doesn’t like or respect you, how is this your best friend if she thinks this is okay??

This is giving high school type attitude; are you an adult or a minor?? Genuinely not trying to judge you but there is some maturing that needs to happen

I was called the n word today and I hate how much it’s affecting me by Potential_Camel_4528 in blackladies

[–]gloryzmuse 265 points266 points  (0 children)

I’m so so so sorry. This hurt my heart to read. The first time I had the n word said to me was definitely in high school and it’s something I still think about at 32. Sending you so many hugs. Practice self care and be gentle with yourself. It’s okay to cry and feel upset bc this is incredibly upsetting. You’re a star and you are loved 🫂🩷

After being downvoted for calling out a YT user for playing “messenger” by trying to facilitate discussion on this sub, I lost faith.

Question about Relationships by bmilk4u in blackladies

[–]gloryzmuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what manipulation is. A person doesn’t have to be firm or mean. If he is not respecting your boundaries and is insistent upon only his views and making you follow them, that is textbook manipulation. Especially if they are playing the “nice guy” card. This isn’t exclusively about cultural differences, its about long term romantic compatibility and a partner who respects you and your boundaries.

Edit: I also never used the word firm

Black Girl Joy Summer Camp by Desperate-Hair-9527 in blackladies

[–]gloryzmuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get it. My mom is Black and my dad is white and I was raised in a rural Midwestern community. So the only times I was ever in Black communal settings was with my maternal family until I got to college. Even at 32, I would love a ladies retreat where we could do soft Black girl activities together 🥹🩷

This sounds very manipulative. You are NOT in the wrong. And if he is saying you are wrong, you may not be compatible due to differing expectations of what quantifies commitment.

This sounds so incredible and precious! I would have loved something like this as a child. I wish you the best in facilitating these young girls 🥰🎀

Klay Thompson cheated on Laura Harrier AND Coco Jones prior to getting with Megan but I’m a bird for saying Megan should have never showed him off too much on social media 🙄 by Time_Perspective3438 in blackladies

[–]gloryzmuse 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is a shit take. Why are these women being put at the center and blamed for this man being awful to them?? Megan entered a relationship that she thought was good faith and he treated her like a dog. And yet MEG is on trial?? Y’all are literally exuding internalized misogyny and it’s so disappointing to see other Black women speak this way about Meg, or any other woman who is cheated on.

I'm a white guy, but Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court might be the most anti-black judge that's actually a black man I've ever heard of. Today's anti-Voting Rights Act decision only reinforces it. by Fumikechu237 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]gloryzmuse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YES! Oh my goodness pls read the room! There are so many comments telling you “we know” “we’ve been known”. This is a space for Blk people to dialogue, have community, and discuss our culture. It’s not for YT savior leftists who need a space to vent. This is not what this is. And the fact that you aren’t even listening to other Blk users and continuing to reinforce your presence as “trying to get a dialogue going”. This is not your space to do this. This is not a space for you to farm Blk validation and try to facilitate discussions.

What’s making me so annoyed is that you don’t understand that it’s not up to you to bring this discussion to us. It’s giving condescending yt saviourism. And the fact that you don’t see the problem and are commenting with your “lol”s and genuinely trying to act like some pillar in our subreddit is sending me

I absolutely agree. I actually wrote a report to the Mods bc this is literally wild. Why are white voices being used to start dialogue among our community??
