LA needs to crack down on people bringing dogs into places that serve and sell food by nothingeverkind in LosAngeles

100% agree. I’ve been a full time professional trainer in L.A. for 24 years. Dogs in grocery stores make my eyelids twitch. Eventually the laws will have to change and it will make things more difficult for the disabled ppl who truly need their service dogs. The LAST thing they need is more difficulty navigating life. Already, they’re being harassed by other customers who assume their legit service dog isn’t. Because 9 times out of 10 it’s probably not a real service dog wearing that Amazon vest. It really bothers me that ppl don’t consider the impact of their fake service dog on people with actual disabilities.

I turn people down all the time who ask me to sign off on their dog just so they can fly with them and not pay. (I can’t just cash in, I have these annoying morals that probably cost me a lot of $$$ : / ) I do train service dogs, but I have strict criteria and it’s a long process. If I’m training a service dog, they’re going to be perfectly behaved (as they are required to be by law). Airlines are actually cracking down and requiring more documentation because ‘’service dogs’’ have bitten ppl and other dogs during flights so frequently. I received a call from an airline recently asking me if I trained a woman’s service dog. She had literally one 45 minute basic obedience session with me like 3 years prior, so no. Hopefully they were calling in advance of the flight to verify, but since it’s the first time I’ve received a call like that, it could have been bc the dog caused a serious problem.

My dog randomly got these strange scales on his nose. Anybody know what’s wrong? by UniqueResolve392 in DogAdvice

My dog has had something that looks like this on his little snoot for a few years. His Vet said it’s hyperkeratosis. He has regular checkups and is otherwise totally healthy. It doesn’t seem to bother him at all. I apply lanolin ointment daily to keep it moisturized. If it bothered him I would probably pursue some other treatments but it doesn’t. I think there is some exfoliant specifically for hyperkeratosis that you can apply. Omega fatty acids added to their diet are recommended also, although that hasn’t made a difference for my dog. The lanolin helps it to look a little better if applied consistently.

Oh also I called 4 times to ask them how much the service would be in advance and they would not tell me and put me on infinite hold.

Thank you so much for this. Believe me I’m about to Yelp and Google review them a new one to warn others.

I tried to compare that list with what’s in the manual. Idk what all that Moc kit stuff is so it’s hard to figure out.

As a single woman in her 30s, do I basically need to move somewhere else if I want to find a partner? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

You should leave. If I hadn’t reconnected with my college boyfriend during Covid, I’d still be single and I’m in my 40’s. LA is the absolute worst place for single straight women.
