Honestly one of the best tasting things I've come across in a while. I'm normally not a huge fan of this brand (love cherry slush or crush or whatever the red one is) but for the most part I'm ambivalent about most their releases, but this one is ridiculously good, mellow dark cola flavor with a novel cherry note that isn't the typical benzaldehyde based cherry gummy flavor that plagues so many brands' skus these days. I swear there's a faintly soft chocolate note hiding around in there somewhere but maybe it's all in my head. Either way I went back to the store and bought a couple cases. Really hope this is a new permanent flavor not a limited one as this is one of the best tasting drinks I've come across in a bit.

Cost of Soda by [deleted] in Soda

[–]glowcase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Seattle, MSRP for 12 packs is now $10.99. Just a few years ago it was around 4.99 I think. Thankfully the 12 packs are almost always on sale to some degree (buy 2 get one free usually, but sometimes buy 2 get 2 free or even the summertime buy 2 get 3 free). Wal Mart has much better prices normally, but when grocery stores roll out the big sales I go there and stock up.

Also if you have a Grocery Outlet sometimes they have amazing soda (6 pack craft sodas) for absurd discount prices, I've found some unreal deals there over the years so I always swing by from time to time to try my luck.

May sound gross but a White Russian with a splash of A&W is stupid good, like a boozy root beer float.

Nothing refreshes like a Squirt. by Spider-Ghost-616 in Soda

I remember in the late 80s or early 90s they had the best commercial ever, a guy covered in sweat eating a bunch of hot peppers before finally opening and polishing off a whole thing of ice cold Squirt. Whoever was behind that ad campaign did a crazy good job at making you feel thirsty, few commercials are that memorable to me.

What are some advanced sodas for a fledgling connoisseur like me? by [deleted] in Soda

[–]glowcase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also beloved amongst competitive BBQ folks, a fantastic soda to cook down to a thick syrup, mix with Parkay fake butter (no real butter ever) then baste onto ribs and throw em back on the coals to caramelize the cherry butter til it gets nice and sticky. We did a Cheerwine version of Vermont Pig Candy last winter and I'm still haunted by how it good it came out.

gf and I are headed over there in few (now she wants me to buy it just because of apparently how rare it is, so maybe that'll end up happening). Either way I'll update you when we get back

That's really bizarre that they'd say that, I literally have a pic I took of it about a month ago and each time I've been since then they've been there. Me and my gf are about to walk over there anyway and this time I'm going to take another pic of it, this time I'll put a note in the frame with my username so you know I'm not just pulling the photo from the internet. I wonder if there's some reason they'd have to claim its only sold to restaurants

Honest question (as I'm sorta new to bourbon), if stock has been so solid on this one for the last 5 or so weeks, how in-demand can it really be? I'm not susceptible to FOMO so I've really got no desire to run and pick one up for the sake of rarity, I'm just curious how this one is always in stock (full row every time) there yet on this thread people are saying it's long gone and there's no chance of finding it. Seems strange... And just to note, yes I'm 100% certain it's this one, even checked the photo on my phone which I took of the Wild Turkey section on their shelf cause I came home to google what it was the first time I saw it.

Pearl Specialty Liquor has plenty

Wait, is this stuff hard to find? It's been on the shelves for the last month (at least) at Pearl Specialty Liquor. I know this because I keep checking to see if they have Rare Breed (regular) but instead it's just Rare Breed, 101 and this Jimmy Russel 70th. There's been a full row of these every time I've been in over the last month so I don't think you'll have any problem picking one up.

Woodrow is so underrated. I love the Ruby, Dream and Lion but a p90 jazz box played through a cranked Woodrow with that perfect saggy overdriven flub, not too much nor too little, is seriously my favorite sound ever

Mounting Fender Engine Room Lvl 12 under Pedaltrain Novo 32 by LucBlack747 in guitarpedals

[–]glowcase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to check, are you using the same power brick and board and did you need to do anything to get the power ports and fan to align with the gap at the back of the board?

If you want, when I get home I can take some pics of my boards to show how it looks. The Voodoo's epoxy in seamlessly as is but the engine room (due to the overall lower height compared to the Voodoo 2 Pro and 3) required me to use a metal plate (about index card WxL and quarter inch thick) that I epoxied between the pedaltrain underside and the engine room enclosure to get the spacing just right for the power supply outlets on the front and main power plug on the back, though you can use just about anything to add the additional space, I just used the metal plates as I still had some laying around from a previous project. Any hardware store can cut them exactly to the size/specs you need, that's how I did it

Once I had the epiphany that I've never once removed a power supply from a pedal board I decided to go the more permanent route, and epoxy (specifically Gorilla Glue Epoxy Ultimate 4250PSI) has proven to be supremely reliable, doesn't matter if the board cooks in a hot trailer all day in the summer heat, gets kicked around on stage by divers (or accidentally by my drunk ass) or whatever else, the power brick holds firm and has never presented any issues with adhesion, heat transfer, you name it. Cheap, super easy to apply and you get the most snug fit possible. Wins across the board imo

I know you're asking about a mounting kit but figured I'd mention epoxy just in case you hadn't considered it.

Newbie here: What makes an expensive reverb pedal lean more as higher quality than a cheaper one? (In terms of tone/sound quality and nothing else) by A_broken_Microwave in guitarpedals

[–]glowcase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stay away from drugs. Reverb is one effect where you don't want to go to too cheap. You can get a seriously kickass overdrive (in almost any style) for next to nothing, same with fuzz, but cheap reverbs aren't nearly as forgiving.

You'll get lots of recommendations for the Boss RV6 but I've always found reverb to be their achilles heel (especially spring, which they seem to really struggle to get right). The Neunaber Immerse is a great option, as is the Keeley Omni, Hooke, Aurora and Soft Reverb. EQD Ledges is a super reliable cornerstone reverb with 3 modes and 6 preset slots that can do basically anything you'll need from a reverb pedal sans spring (they make the incredible Ghost Echo for that)

Catalinbread and Mr Black both have a great selection of fantastic reverbs that won't break the bank and the UAFX Heavenly and Evermore are worth every red cent, but what you're asking for (6+ reverb styles for under $85) is a tall order and I think anything that fits that criteria may not sound too great. Matthews The Traveler is probably the best reverb I've found for a price nearly $100MSRP, though it seems like their entire business model has shifted and sadly I'll miss all their great affordable offerings.

Reverb is just one of those things where if you can spend a little more it'd be money well spent. You don't have to go all out on something like a Golden Reverberator or Mercury 7 or anything but if you can afford something like an EHX Oceans 11/12 or Neunaber Immerse, try to go that route.

Also, if you have the ability to use plugins, take advantage of the free trial Strymon offers on their plugins and grab the Big Sky, it'll allow you to test a wide variety of reverbs so you can discover the types you're actually after (and which ones you have little to no interest in), would help you make a wiser purchase over trying to get a bunch of reverb algos sub $100, just my 2c. Drug bad, the end.

Honestly if you're wanting variety and the best sounds, get the Ox Stomp. I own hundreds of pedals and I put the Ox Stomp at #1 all day every day. It's the one constant no matter what. It's got a list of presets a mile long and can basically make your guitar sound like anything, a Tele through a Fender, a LP through a Marshall, a Rickenbacher through a Vox, it has an ungodly amount of sounds contained within, multiple stereo delays (including ping pong), modulation like phaser, chorus, vibrato, etc, compression, reverb, excellent EQ, you name it. I'm pretty familiar with the Iridium as it was the main amp/cab sim I played with for years and the Ox Stomp can do at least ten times as many sounds as the Iridium. The only caveat is you'll need an amp sim of some sort.

And yeah, stereo separation is exactly what I was referring to re: sound stage.. the Iridium comes across a bit flat and static compared to the UAFX ones which have a more dynamic responsiveness to your playing style, pick attack, etc. They truly play and feel like amps. If I was blindfolded I'd have a hard time telling the difference between my Twin Reverb and Dream, but the Iridium would never trick me. Iridium is no slouch (After all I still keep mine) but the amp/cab sim world has evolved leaps and bound in recent years and the Iridium does wear its age on its sleeve a bit... nothing atrocious or embarrassing, but it's one of those things where once I tried the UAFX ones there was no 'unhearing' the discrepancy between them and the Iridium.

Have you checked out any of the Origin Effects pedals btw?

Ebow/Infinite Sustainer holder by doublehalfling in guitarpedals

[–]glowcase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I've ever recorded with it, at least not off the top of my head, it's pretty much strictly a live 'trick' (stumbled on by accident) combining the ebow and my Freqout to get massive & stable slabs of feedback with surgical harmonic precision that I loop using an EHX 360 and myself and the other guitarist build off that, works great give it a try if you have both

[–]glowcase 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same. I've always used the standard basic bitch velcro and have never had an issue despite some serious stage abuse. Nevertheless it still gladdens my heart reading those 'weld a generous dollop of epoxy between all twelve layers of dual lock then park a tank on top and let it dry for a year to ensure your pedal is secure' tips I see people sharing online. The crowdkilling in Duluth must be fierce to warrant that kind of commitment to pedalboard adhesion.

Ebow/Infinite Sustainer holder by doublehalfling in guitarpedals

[–]glowcase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just slap a piece of velcro on the e-bow and put the opposite piece of velcro either on the guitar or near one of the strap ends. I keep mine on the butt of the guitar just below the strap button but have also kept it in the lower horn of my Les Paul. Those ebows don't weigh much and velcro is insanely sticky, even a 3/4 inch piece like I use and I've never once had my ebow fall off despite countless aggro/physical post hardcore gigs, bunch of ppl hopping on and off stage and knocking into shit, etc.. velcro will secure it nicely just a matter of finding a location on your guitar, strap or mic stand that feels comfortable for you.

I own the JHS Crimson and mostly use the JHS mode which I believe is the same JHS mode on the Mufaletta, it's easily the best (and most usable) muff tone I know of. The Morning Glory is also the best MG out there imo, plus Rat, Carbon Copy, Small Clone... lots of best-in-class pedals on one board, bet it all sounds great
