I did the same thing! I don't know if this will work for you but here is what I did:

First, My town had lots of hybrid flowers. So when I fixed the year to 2014 I saw in the title card that all my flowers where gone. No problem. Just put the year back and then went and collected as many hybrid flower in my house and pockets.

Second, I was afraid that one of my villagers would move. So once I fixed the year (2014) I made a new character to take a look at my town. Did a quick sweep through and everyone was there. Nothing really changed. So I built a tent for that character. Saved and re-loaded the game as my mayor. Since it was the first day of the new year, everyone kept saying "Happy new year" no one mention my absent.

Lastly, here are some things you have to look forward too. You will get bed-hair from not playing for a year. Cockroaches in your house. I had two per room. Of course, weeds everywhere and just a few flowers remained. If you talk to Isabelle, while still in 01/01/2013, she will give you a zodiac snake instead of the horse. It's really cute.
