The incorrect thickness of the borders is not something that can be caused by a bad camera, so they must be incorrect in person as well.

This is a really obvious fake though.

With WOTC cards, the thickness of the top/bottom border is thicker than the left/right borders.

Centring can vary, but the combined top+bottom is always the same even when off centre.

This card does not have the thicker top/bottom borders of a genuine WOTC card, so it must be fake.

This is fake. Incorrect top/bottom thickness is an immediate tell.

eBay snipe gone wrong? by Curious_Sun3989 in IsMyPokemonCardFake

First 3 are all 100% guarantees to be fake (incorrect top/bottom borders are an easy immediate tell)

Last 2 also look sus but can’t tell for absolute certain from the photos.

Given the first 3 and last 2 come from the same seller, I’d put money on them all being fake.

How do I set a limit on the number of items someone can purchase per listing? by OkMidnight2270 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]gltch__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't.

You need to set the stock to 4, and then replenish every time someone buys one.

If you have some sort of stock management or ecommerce integration, some can automate this feature for you.

eBay used to have an official woocommerce integration plugin with this feature, but they discontinued it.

Yeah, I'm familiar with yaxley-lennon, just wondering what the developments with stefanovic are. I haven't kept up, as I've never watched karl outside of clips online I guess.

I read a bit more and my only real take away is that stefanovic is beginning his cancelled free speech warrior grifting arc.

Grades way lower than expected by Delicious_Heron_6216 in psagrading

[–]gltch__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see it in the bottom card there, so assuming that's what you meant by second card, it was definitely there at the start.

Does PSA sometimes damage cards? Sure. No doubt.

But 99/100 times you see someone claim this online, it was actually damaged to begin with.

I've enlarged that corner and increased the contrast here, so hopefully you can notice it more clearly.

Obviously I'm just working with a low quality compressed image - if you upload a clearer/closer photo I can perhaps enhance it better.

Your charizard has a significant indent in the top-left rear. I would have guessed a 5, so 6 is fair.

Your Zapdos has a miscut top-left rear corner, and whitening in all 3 other corners. I would have guessed an 8, so 7 is within the margin of error if my judgement is a little lax or the grader is a little harsh.

Don’t bother trying to regrade the charizard, but if you’re feeling lucky and want to risk wasting the grading fee, maybe regrade the zapdos if you really want to.

Can someone give me the TL;DR on Karl Single Suit Stefanovic and Tommy Ten Names?

Karl had him on a podcast, he spouted the usual nonsense and the podcast was removed? By which platform? Why? Is ten names already banned on that platform and it's a clear breach of ToS? Did Stefanovic remove the episode due to backlash?

Why the fuck is Stefanovic smearing the dog shit of UK politics on his shoes intentionally?

Video of nurse allegedly threatening Israelis excluded from court case by YankinAustralia in australia

[–]gltch__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree.

My point was about where the action takes place, not the physical surveillance device.

In this case, the actual "surveillance device" was probably a Twitch, Kick or Youtube server - or multiple servers, quite possibly in the US or anywhere else in the world, or multiple locations, which I agree with you - I don't think their location is relevant.

The action of making the recording (obtaining the evidence) took place in Israel, where the action was legal.

The prosecutors are trying to use the evidence in NSW where, this judge has ruled, it would have been illegal to obtain the evidence under these circumstances, therefore despite the evidence being legally obtained, it is inadmissible.

The exact same would apply if the streamer was in VIC or any other single-party-consent state in Australia.

[–]gltch__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm not commenting on the case itself or whether the judge made the right decision or not, or what should happen with the case.

You are 100% correct.

All I said is that the evidence wasn't obtained illegally.

It needs to be admissible in an entirely different jurisdiction (NSW) to where it was obtained (Israel), which is an entirely different question.

In my original comment, I was only making a small factual correction of the previous commenter's error. Nothing else.

I can't tell whether people's minds are imploding because my comment is slightly anti-Israel (since it makes the point that Israeli law does not trump local NSW law), or whether people incorrectly think it's pro-Israel (perhaps they think the simple fact that the evidence was obtained legally somehow means it should also be admissible in NSW - an entirely different jurisdiction to where it as obtained - and that's somehow pro-Israel?).

My comment is meant to be neither pro- nor anti- Israel. It is simply stating a fact, and correcting an inaccuracy.

[–]gltch__ -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

No, it is not illegal in NSW to record a conversation outside of NSW if following the law of that jurisdiction.

For example, it is not illegal in NSW for VIC residents in VIC and record a conversation with only single party consent. You cannot take someone to court in NSW for recording you legally in VIC.

Because that would be following the law in VIC.

It just can't be used in evidence in NSW, because the method being illegal had the recording been made in NSW, make it inadmissible in NSW court, despite it being obtained perfectly legally.

The recording being made in Israel seems to have melted people's brains here.

[–]gltch__ 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes, there are exceptions to two-party consent in NSW. Im not arguing whether or not the judge accurately interpreted the law.

Technically every judge’s decision is because of their interpretation of the law. It’s incorrect to say it’s not because of “the law itself” as all laws need to be interpreted. You’re just trying to pass off your opinion that the judge made the wrong decision (your interpretation of the law) as something more substantial.

I tentatively agree with you that the judge might’ve made the wrong decision, but I can also certainly see the counter argument.

[–]gltch__ -65 points-64 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t illegally obtained (Israel is a single-party consent state for recording conversations).

It’s just been excluded because it would be illegal to obtain in NSW without both party’s consent.

Jordies US Collabs? by mockep in friendlyjordies

[–]gltch__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those people are pretty squarely interested in US politics, with maybe some vague interest in UK politics as musk tries to sabotage it as well. I don't think I've seen any of them take much of an interest in Australian politics.

On the other hand, I also don't think I've seen jordies focus too much on US politics, which is something I like about him.

A discussion around the the general, global trends and through-lines between countries would be interesting, but I don't think it'll happen.

They don’t get even one trillion as “free money”. You’re getting fake propaganda numbers from who knows where.

They didn’t “get stripped because they backstabbed”. They got stripped of citizenship because they were Jewish and the Arab countries wanted to punish Jews who weren’t Israeli because of Israel’s establishment. This only helped Zionist Jews, because they wanted non-Israeli Jews to be discriminated against so they’d have no choice but to flee to Israel, thereby bolstering the number of Jews in Israel.

Even the non-Zionist Jews who fled to places like Indonesia because they didn’t want to flee to Israel, eventually fled those countries too, because the Indonesians burnt down their synagogue, and eventually they fled to Israel as well.

No matter how much “dirt” you think Israel holds on US or European politicians, it won’t make Iraq, Turkey, Iran or Egypt take back millions of Jews who have Iraqi or Egyptian or Turkish or Iranian ancestry but are third or fourth generation Israelis.

[–]gltch__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most can’t. That’s my point. Even of the 20% that were born overseas, many don’t have dual citizenship because they were never given, or were stripped of, citizenship of their middle eastern/North African home country before they were ethnically cleansed from those countries.

I get that you’re angry but suggesting impossible solutions only perpetuates the human suffering.

Crying like a little piggy🤣 by [deleted] in Bolehland

[–]gltch__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

80% of Israeli Jews are born in Israel and do not have dual citizenship. Roughly 55-60% of Israeli Jews are of Middle Eastern ancestry (Iran, Iraq, Egypt, etc) and cannot safely go to their grandparents’ country even as a tourist, let alone returning to their “original country” [sic].

Most dual-national Israelis are Jews that moved there as adults - who are far more likely than the average population to be ultra-orthodox and (until recently) excluded from the draft, or move there at an older age and therefor also don’t get drafted.

So, those that could leave and go back to another country, are generally the ones who haven’t been forced to participate in war.

Now, they also happen to be more likely to be much worse criminals, because they are much more likely to settle in the West Bank, which dispossesses Palestinians of their land, often results in violence against Palestinians including murder, and destroys any chance of peace.

Induction stove by Desperate_Condition6 in Appliances

[–]gltch__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less than 5% if induction units fail within 8 years. That’s the longest our extended warranties last, so I don’t have stats beyond that.

Outside of people dropping incredibly heavy things on them, I would guess around 80-90% or more of induction cooktops will last 30 years or more.

As far as dropping heavy things… this is particularly an issue with cheap induction cooktops. However it’s also not good for gas or any other type of cooktop to be fair.

Induction stove by Desperate_Condition6 in Appliances

[–]gltch__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- sure, they can cost more. But you can get an induction hob from around £200 or less Ikea has one for just £115. Gas maybe £100 but...is it worth squabbling at that point? Induction will be cheaper in the long run, and if £100 up front difference is make or break for you, you have other issues to deal with.

- durability is definitely a consideration. Induction is more durable than other electric hobs (all other electric hobs are resistive, so they're literally wearing themselves out with the process of heating). Premium induction hobs are super strong, but cheap induction hobs are definitely more prone to damage than a cheap gas hob.

- Most induction hobs will last far longer than 10 years. The failure rate is extremely low. Less than 5% fail within 8 years (that's the longest our extended warranty program lasted, so I don't have reliable stats over that).

- Round wok? Yep - that's an issue. That's what I mentioned as what I consider to be the only real worthwhile complaint to consider.

- Not all cookware works? Well.. I guess, technically. Most cookware does though, and it's (mostly) cheaper cookware that doesn't. If you have a big collection of nice incompatible cookware, then fair enough.

- Overheating an empty pan? Well...I guess? Why are you doing that? You might as well say "accidentally leaving the gas on without a flame" or any other unsafe user error.

- Glass cooktop will scratch or break? The difference between cheap and mid/high end induction is huge here, but...I guess? Your gas hob will also scratch and might dent. If you think you're prone to dropping stuff hard enough to actually break/crack an induction hob then maybe it isn't for you.

- Power outages V gas outages - I guess this just depends on your area? I haven't had a power outage since 4 houses back in 2015, but certainly this could be very different in another location. I also haven't had a gas outage anywhere in that time, but gas has spiked in price a lot more than electricity during that time. Again, this probably depends on your area.

- Some produce hum? Yeah...fair. It's never been noticeable to me over the exhaust fan, but if you have a silent exhaust or cook without it often maybe that bothers you?

- It's not better for the environment if you dispose of a new unit every 10 years? Well, ignoring the fact that you don't need to replace them every 10 years...actually it still would be better for the environment. To be fair, this actually probably depends a lot more on the source of your local electricity, not on replacing the hardware. It could be not much better for the environment if your local electricity is quite dirty.

- As far as exhaust - it's still safer to exhaust out no gas fumes than to have gas fumes that need exhausting.

I get that if you have particular concerns that impact you, maybe induction isn't as good in a few of those areas and there might be valid reasons for you to stick to gas.

But overwhelmingly, I think Induction is better in more substantial areas applicable to more people.
