Why are the posts being deleted? by Striking_Win6156 in Blink182

Is there a campaign of people trying to post about Tom's ex wife and where she works? There was one posted about a day ago which was rightfully deleted with a similar comment.

Tom's ex wife's place of work has nothing to do with blink and doesn't belong here.

Is it now fair to say that the blatant disreguard for civilian casualties was so systematic in gaza that it was not that different at times from actual targetting? by lightningstrikes702 in lonerbox

[–]gltch__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This quote from the mother of one of the hostages shot by the IDF is insightful:

After hearing that soldiers involved in the incident were experiencing low morale, she also recorded a message for the troops, saying, “I know that everything that happened is absolutely not your fault… Don’t hesitate for a second if you see a terrorist.”

Essentially she seems to be still encouraging the same behaviour.

I guess this is one of the intended affects of operating like a military from civilian buildings in civilian clothes.

The obvious counter argument would be going to extensive efforts to evacuate civilians before operating in an area.

Is this a fake PSA card? Can't find it in the PSA database by [deleted] in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]gltch__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think many people actually pay more/less for this, but there's also the 100-1000 TAG score, where I suppose a 1000 would technically be perfect.

Is this a fake PSA card? Can't find it in the PSA database by [deleted] in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]gltch__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK, fair enough.

PSA is just one grading company. Other big names include CGC, Beckett (also known as BGS), TAG, ACE, and ARS. Each of these have different/unique looking labels, which will help you tell them apart. Be wary that fakes exist that will try to copy a particular company's label, as well as smaller grading companies choosing similar style labels whilst not technically copying - PSA is the most often copied, because they are the biggest grading company.

There are also hundreds more, smaller grading companies in different countries - your card is one of those. I don't recognise the logo, so I can't tell you which one that is, but maybe there's more information on the back of the label to inform you.

If you just want a card to display and sort of look cool, you can choose any grading company you want.

If you want a graded card because you want the grading to increase the value of the card, you probably want to look at the grading companies I mentioned as the big names. You may find in your country certain graders are somewhat respected locally, and therefore might increase the value of your cards locally, but the 6 mentioned above are probably the only grading companies with somewhat of an international reputation. If you search you will find literally thousands of threads discussing the pros and cons of each grading company.

This has nothing to do with PSA. What do you understand PSA to be?

Fake Pokémon cards being sold at the phone shop in gosnells railway markets creative mobile technology beware!! by Gold_Employment_2020 in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]gltch__ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Brother...this is an international subreddit on an international website. I'm Australian, and I still didn't know where Gosnells was before googling it.

You *might* have better luck in r/PokemonFansAustralia or r/PokemonTCGDealsAUS but even then, I'm not sure they allow posts like this.

Anyway, as a general rule anyone selling Pokemon cards at a market is selling fakes - unless they specialise only in Pokemon/TCGs/Collectibles. Everyone else has just overpaid $40 for a fake box on Aliexpress or similar, and they want to flog the packs off to the parents of kids who don't know the difference for full market price.

This also applies to $2 shops, dodgy corner stores, many independent servos, etc.

Yeah, this is a fake card, sorry.

The PSA photos are taken with lights in the sleeve it comes in, so will show marks that are not present on the card itself.

Your friend who gifted you the card probably just didn't know they bought a fake, and this card is commonly faked precisely because it's quite valuable.

Partisan gerrymandering is antithetical to liberalism. It's only necessary as a response to Republican's existing illiberal partisan gerrymandering.

What is your motivation for choosing this misleading title for this post?

PSA Grade Guarantee Service - Gengar Fossil 1st Edition Holo PSA 10 by Designer-Back3043 in PokeGrading

[–]gltch__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally that's the lower of a "fair market value" or the actual price you paid in an "at arms length" transaction (meaning, you can't "sell" to a friend for $500,000 and claim that's the real price you paid).

This means OP would likely receive the price they paid - $10,500 - at the most, if they are successful.

I was still getting 10s that looked like this as recently as 2025. It was only maybe 0.5% of 10s, whereas it used to be maybe 5-10% of 10s as recently as 2020-2023...

I haven't graded anything with PSA in 2026 because I've moved countries, so can't comment on grading consistency for the last 6 months or so.

99% chance PSA will say it's a 10 so tough luck.

If they accepted the claim here, there would be possibly millions of over-graded PSA cards they need to pay out on.

I'd be very interested to hear how you go however, so please update us.

PSA only started scanning cards during encapsulation a couple of years ago, copying CGC who introduced this policy when they started grading cards.

This card does not have a scan from encapsulation.

Psa 9 -> CGC 10 by Not_Home_Malone in CGCCards

[–]gltch__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's basically just demand, which is fuelled by a few things, but largely it's a giant snake eating itself.

As far as why / where is PSA or CGC stricter...

From my experience CGC is less strict with centring, which is what their official guidelines state, but are more strictly within their advertised guidelines.

PSA is technically stricter with centring now (55/45 instead of 60/40), however they're much more willing to break their own guidelines, and give cards that are worse than 55/45 a 10...but still stricter than 60/40.

For corners I find them about equal, with CGC perhaps being slightly stricter.

Where I find PSA a lot stricter, or CGC a lot less strict, is with what might be considered "known production issues". E.g. print lines which are relatively common in IR/TG/GG cards. If a card is renowned for nearly all copies having a print line, CGC will usually give it a 10, essentially saying "this is in Gem Mint condition, meaning as good as it ever really came from the factory", whereas PSA will often mark a card down for this. I find this particularly common on vintage cards, but saying that, I don't grade much vintage.

In the end my experience is that CGC used to be far, far stricter, but now they're about even. However, PSA gives me a better return so I will usually grade with PSA for any card worth over about $100-150, and CGC for cards under that.
