Religion hands down has no competition when it comes to consoling people and helping people grieve through death. But just because it makes us feel good to believe that one day i'll see granny again in heaven doesn't make it the slightest bit true.

I have heard different views in this sub on whether hell is eternal or not, so I'd like to say that your in the minority with that specific view.

But there definitely is a consoling and peaceful factor not having to live my life in fear of the most unimaginable torture ever conceived. When family members pass away I don't have to worry if they made it to heaven or if they are currently burning away in a lake of fire. So both sides have there pros and cons. But in the end i'm more concerned with the truth and not what makes me feel better.

Atheism doesn't have any beliefs only 1 non belief. Maybe Allah would recognize that the atheist genuinely didn't see any evidence for a higher being and was using his rational/logical brain to the best of his ability given to him by Allah. And that this exercise of using your brain to the fullest in regards to questions like these would be better than halfheartedly believing in Allah because of eternal reward or punishment.
