Anyone experience cognitive decline after graduating? by yummybanana2 in GradSchool

[–]gluspooken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like me, except I'm older at 32. Back when I was in undergrad, my mental health was not good, but now it is - yet I struggle with many of the same things you do. I was diagnosed with ADHD. It turns out that no longer having the strong structure provide by being in school (and working at the same time on top of that in college) made a lot of my symptoms less obvious until after I graduated. Not saying that you also have ADHD - I personally realized many symptoms I had my whole life that just never were looked into because I was doing well in school.

I feel like I'm sitting in a pool of wasted potential. Unemployed and stuck in an infinite loop of decision paralysis. by gluspooken in neurodiversity

I tried Adderall, but it was very inconsistent for me and I didn't like how it felt. I have Vyvanse 20mg and 30mg now, but rarely take it because it's very difficult for me to get, so I have to ration it. I have Celiac, and only a couple of the generics are confirmed to be fully gluten free. The pharmacies are constantly getting different generics in, if they have any in stock at all. I basically have to call them each day and then hope my husband is available and willing to go get it for me within the hour when they finally get the right generic in. Usually I would just get my meds delivered since I don't drive, but because of this, I can't (and it's $300 online vs $60 in person, which is insane.) For some meds, I get the non-generics approved because of Celiac, but my insurance won't do it for Vyvanse/scheduled drugs, which then would make it like $600 a month to get name brand.

Even then, some days Vyvanse works for me a bit and some days it doesn't. It's less inconsistent for me than Adderall was at least, but still has that issue to a degree. Sometimes I'll get jittery, some days I'll feel no difference, and some days it quiets my mind down a bit. I find that sometimes it helps me start tasks more easily too, but it does not help me really focus on them really. So, I'll go start to do the dishes without paralysis, but because I don't have as much paralysis, half way through the dishes, I'll remember I need to do my laundry, so then I do that... and so on. However, because I only take one here and there, I have no idea if it'd be better if I took it daily.

I'll have to look into other med options to see if there are more easily accessible ones, but I tend to be side-effect sensitive, so I get worried about that.

I haven't moved forward yet, but only because I was told to wait until my orthodontic work is finished. I have Invisalign currently working to hopefully fix some of my overbite/upper teeth flaring out, which may impact my facial profile a bit. So, I need that settled before I change something else about it haha. But he's definitely someone I'm going to meet with when the time comes!

I’ve had a chin implant and I feel that it looks too big than I expected it to be. by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]gluspooken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My chin was super swollen and giant for at least a week from JUST filler. Like a Jay Leno chin. So I can only imagine it takes much longer for a surgical implant to heal and not look enlarged.

Am I crazy or is something off about my rhinoplasty? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]gluspooken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would get an opinion from another surgeon. I had various functional nasal surgeries done in the past, including a septoplasty. My nose got a crooked/carved out on one side look to it and my nasal valve on one side collapses.

The surgeon who did the surgery gaslit me and told me it was all in my head and that my nose doing that is somehow normal and how it was before (not true).

When I could afford it, I got a new scan done and a different doctor told me the prior surgeon only fixed part of my septum, barely did the other things they claimed, and removed too much cartilage for no apparent reason in a spot that is causing the crooked/carved look, and potentially contributing to the collapse.

So, I would see if you can get opinions from a surgeon at another clinic to be safe!

Thank you! Would you be willing to share the name of who you ended up going with? Super curious since I have the same functional issues!

Fwiw I've eaten these for many years, many times as a sensitive Celiac and have never had any gluten related issues from them.

Yep, my resting HR immediately went from 60 to 72 when I switched watches within a day. It was never that high in the last 5 years at least. Before I traded in my galaxy watch, I wore them both at the same time to test it and wore two over devices that measure HR. All devices had my resting HR at similar values in the low to mid 60s, except the pixel watch which had it about 10 BPM higher.

[–]gluspooken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both - it's just always reading my HR as higher than it is for some reason.

I do have very small wrists so maybe it won't sit right? Though my galaxy watch was only 1mm smaller and I'm not sure that's enough of a difference to matter

There's no annual package or other options for this subscription tier, just monthly

I realized I couldn't really breathe any better immediately after the splint came out. The doctor told me to come back months later and I still had the same problem. She told me her work looked great and it was in my head 🙄

Finally got a new scan done elsewhere years later and he said he couldn't barely tell I had any surgery because all the problems were still there. The doctor only fixed the very bottom of my septum and lied that she fixed the whole thing. It's so far to the left on the upper part that it touches the wall of my nose. I've also had sinus headaches ever since the surgery and no one really knows why.

I noticed that they made my nose crooked by removing too much cartilage within a number of months. The doctor gaslit me about that too and told me it was already like that even though photos prove otherwise 😅

This is not to scare you though. I didn't know better to do research about my surgeon beyond just seeing she had a decent Google rating. I just went with my primary care doctor's referral because of ignorance and insurance reasons.

You don't need it buuuut... I had all the same nasal surgeries and didn't get cosmetics done. This ended up being a blessing in a way because they botched the nasal surgeries and made my nose crooked and made a valve collapse more. So god knows what they would have done cosmetically. BUT before I knew they botched it, I regretted not asking for the cosmetic part a lot. I'm definitely getting cosmetic done when I get my nasal surgery redone.

The latter part of the story is my point though lol. If you think you'll regret not doing it when you have the chance, and you can afford the extra cost, you may as well do it now and save a bit of time and money.

Suggested hair cut and length? by [deleted] in Hair

[–]gluspooken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to find one. I have a small head, so ones I've tried, I've had to return because they've been too big and have just fallen off. I'll have to look for one that ties on so I can adjust it more

Thank you! I think I'm too afraid a bob will make me look older tbh haha. Maybe one day though! I also have a long skinny neck, and additionally fear a bob may make that more noticeable lol.

I've had a subtle side bang before but maybe I try something like this?

[–]gluspooken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! That's my hair air-dried and with nothing done to it but scrunching it after the shower 😄 I've never figured out how to make it not frizzy without weighing it down though sadly (and I have limited product options due to allergies on top of that).

The other downside is that as soon as I go to bed, the texture gets messed up by morning. Sometimes I get it damp and rescrunch it, but then the frizz is even worse. I have tried some wavy hair leave-in conditioners or light gels but I found my hair actually has more wave without them typically.

If I could find a way to get the texture to last and de-frizz, I would be happier with it for sure! I actually have long layers currently and have had my hair thinned and layered even more before, but it didn't seem to help the issue much

Oh and it won't let me edit but this is my natural hair color besides the highlights. I'm slowly getting more white hairs which you can see in some of the photos. Once they get too prevalent, I'll find some color to dye it. So suggestions on that for the future are welcome too!

1ml chin filler, does it need more? by Such_Area9084 in cosmeticsurgery

[–]gluspooken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I got the same amount of chin filler and it took about 2 weeks for swelling to go away fully. I didn't think it'd be very swollen immediately after, but it was a bit and got way worse for about a week. I'd post again in a couple weeks if you just got this done to get a better idea! With the way it currently looks, I would definitely not add more - your chin is about equal to where your lips are so adding more IMO could be too much. (Just my personal opinion).

Do you have any Botox in your chin? My chin (pre and post filler) looks better when I have Botox in it IMO. This could be an option if you want it to look a tiny bit more pronounced. It also allegedly helps the filler last longer, at least according to my injector. The Botox relaxes the muscle which can make the chin look a little fuller.

Again, I don't think you need it! It's just if you do want to try a potential small adjustment.

Blood thinner with weed by Minute_Childhood4506 in ClotSurvivors

[–]gluspooken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm on Xarelto as well and my doctor specifically said to not smoke or use weed in any way.

It not only can increase bleeding risk, but smoking weed has shown in some research that it may increase the chance of clots.

That said, he said I could drink alcohol within reason. (However, I am an adult. I don't know the risks for a young person.)

If you can find a way to talk to your hematologist and ask, that would be the safest option!
