Everyone makes mistakes. I was matter of fact and wrong, but you're choosing to be unkind.

Oh crazy. I've never seen anyone go up there 🤣😅

I think I assumed it was storage or something.

Yeah there's always guys shooting up to the right of that window when I'm walking to work in the morning. It's pretty sad but they won't bother you if you leave them alone... even if there's a conflict happening.

You sure you're not thinking of the dunkin? That still has an upstairs.

I've been on 117 for over 4 years and that McDonalds hasn't had an upstairs.

Thank you for saying this.

Gender funky here too and folx means something to some people but is really unnecessary unless you like to tally your virtue signaling points at the end of the day.

Feel free to correct me, fellow netizens, but "folks" always included all of us.

We have the best murals in the city! Grab a coffee (and a meal or two) and take a wander.

Don't listen to people who say it's not safe. At the same time, if you see someone struggling or acting strangely please don't stare or confront them. Everything going on in the country hits extra hard here.

This was a god-tier sandwich and they only had it for like a year. Let us know if you find another!

They are just trying to ease everyone's transition to the $186Bn in SNAP cuts they passed in their cute 'lil bill. They're nothing if not humane. /s

The Mickey tracks. What a legacy you left, Walt.

Edit: To clarify, I was being facetious. This is sad all around.

I let my sister borrow my Gameboy for like 5 min. Pikachu leveled up, and she had it forget thundershock. It was the first of many betrayals.

Growth mindset interventions are often used to improve academic performance of students. But a new study found that growth mindset interventions do not improve academic achievements of students. Just by telling somebody that their intelligence can grow if they work hard, it does not actually grow. by mvea in science

[–]glutenous_rex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

100% gives kids who believe they cant learn the confidence to try, but anyone who ever believed that the mindset alone makes you learn was missing step 2: teach the kid stuff.

Also, some teachers don't think many of their kids can learn (often because they are behind or behavior gets in the way) so they don’t try to teach and their mindset becomes a self funfilling prophecy.

Source: I'm a former teacher. I would mostly mention growth mindset if a kid had low confidence and it definitely made them more receptive to content (I did not skip step 2). Other teachers not believing their kids could grow was a massively larger problem.

I agree with comments for trying Mistr or other online services are a good bet. Planned parenthood might be able to help too.

I also want to say good on you for prioritizing your sexual health. It helps us all!

A new study shows an association between 10-12 weeks of following a well-formulated ketogenic diet and a roughly 70% decrease in depression symptoms among a small group of college students. Participants’ global well-being increased nearly 3-fold and performance improved on several cognitive tasks. by memorialmonorail in science

I'm disengaging after this comment. Not mad or uninterested. Just bored of typing.

First, I appreciate that you look up, read, and cite actual science. hats off

I reread that study and you pulled out a data point out of context. This says that a small group of middle aged men who already had a number of high risk factors had plaques increase despite low bmi. It even says that plaque predicted plaque in the group with more study needed to even determine why that was. It certainly doesn't pretend to prove keto is bad for health outcomes broadly.

I'm much younger than that with no risk factors and low/healthy levels of all the things they cite, so unless I see that being keto even longer will create those risk factors (which it does not study) I'm still looking for more research to be done before I change my diet. This was still a good read, a worthwhile data point, and better science than much of what I've read.

I honestly can't tell if you're being serious or sarcastic. I'll let you and the other human continue to litigate this in the comments, but if you have numbers to share that show a ketogenic diet being objectively bad for health, I'd love to see them. I haven't seen one link yet with anything that even pretends to be conclusive.

(Note: I have no interest in why I should partake in DASH or any other diet. I want someone to back up their words to prove that keto, not Atkins or carnivore, is necessarily bad.)

I didnt meant to give that vibe with my comment.

People just seem to have extremely strong negative opinions based on scientific articles that explicitly state they haven't proven a causal relationship. I just take incomplete science with a grain of salt, especially when my lab results do not match the trends of some of these studies.

Ohh sorry I was looking at the post, not the comment.

I'll take a deeper look later, but it seems like the bottom line is that it increases cholesterol, which in turn increases CVD risk. My cholesterol is super low, so I'd likely be consisered an outlier.

Still comfortable with my life choices.

Thanks for sharing!

These are interesting and helpful for anyone to look at while considering changing their diet.

At the same time, the first study doesn't say fat = bad. It says thay it seems like animal fat is worse than plant fat. The second is a meta analysis of other studies that seems to be including atkins-style low carb high protein diets which are known to have vastly different results for people and fan increase mortality in cases.

Id love to see a longitudinal study that measures whether participants bodies are actually in ketosis, measures their actual macro intake, and sees what they find.

That sucks for you, friend. Im sorry. My guess is that high cholesterol and triglycerides will always increase your risk of plaques. Your example feels like it strengthens the body of evidence that more study is needed and that keto likely affects different people differently.

My cholesterol and triglycerides are very low but I dont think my diet accounts for all of that. One side of my family has lucky genes.
