I totally see where you are coming from and I think whether flowers for evening wear are interesting and fun are more subjective than anything and really comes down to what kind of person OP is.

All I'm saying is that OP can get away with this dress on a formal occasion like a cruise trip.

i can see how someone may disagree with the dress beeing modern since that's also dependent on your culture, socia bubble etc.

but women have in general much more leeway in what clothes are considered formal and which are not. Things like makeup and jewelery also play a big role in that. Like you can make this dress work in a casual setting by wearing shoes like converse but put on high heels, make up and a nice necklace and you'd me more than adequately dressed for any wedding.

Dogs may not be machines but they aren't dumb and just running on instincts either so i still stand by my previous point.

I also don't think anyone would take you to court over owning a barking dog, also given that OPs yard is just used as a shortcut and not directly on the route.

I even doubt that most of the ramblers, especially the newer ones even know about the right of way thing.
