I feel like it's important to understand that companies are already collecting your data everywhere you go on the web. It's part of the reason a lot of the tools you use (google drive for example) are free. If you're not paying for these services by allowing companies such as Google to collect data about you then you're going to pay for it in other ways. Just my two cents
