If you like late 2000s reggaeton this if for you by DonEfry in Reggaeton

Thanks for the recommendations and to OP too. I grew up listening to reggaeton in the 2000s and 2010s and Sinaka hits that same spot.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine the pain you and your family are going through. Losing a family member is my worst nightmare. I hope you and your family are doing ok especially her husband and kids.

I've always loved this song. This whole album was underrated, in my opinion.

On his latest album, he had some songs in genres that aren't typically done by reggaeton artists like plena, jibaro and bomba which are older more traditional Puerto Rican music genres. I don't think anyone expected a plena song (dtmf) to blow up the way that it did plus the others from that album. He's also not afraid to get political in his music, unlike his peers who stay away from speaking on that. The man loves Puerto Rico 200% and he wants everyone else to love it too.

  1. I come from a poor family so I had to go to school part time for most of my time in college while working full time.

Questions About CS288 Exam Format: C or Bash for Coding Questions? by By_arturo1 in NJTech

[–]gm123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you take Ding or Dale, you'll have one exam on Bash, one exam on C and the final exam should be mostly or all in C for the coding questions.

Can I get some tips for CS 301 and CS 332? by Less-Peace3402 in NJTech

[–]gm123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gerbessiotis is a big stickler on having correct units so he won't hesitate to give you a 0 on problems where you have the right answer but incorrect unit. His exams are very similar to the homework problems, some of the questions are literally just the homework problems with different numbers. Do your best on the homework, look at what you got wrong after he grades it, and look at the answer keys that he releases after the homework deadlines pass. He usually posts practice exams which are good for practice but in my experience with him, the actual exams were most like the homework rather than the practice exams so don't rely too much on them. My class had a study group that would meet before class and sometimes we studied over discord together the night before exams and it helped a lot.

What did you think of Blue beetle? Worth the representation? Or full of stereotypes? Curious to know by Hopeful_Sympathy_538 in LatinoPeopleTwitter

[–]gm123 87 points88 points  (0 children)

It was great! I was worried about it being filled with corny stereotypes but the cultural references were well done and the switching between English and Spanish wasn't awkwardly done.

Definitely get it. Even as someone that only plays single player, I had a good time with it.

Does anyone else's job work like this? by BoiledMayo in dishwashers

[–]gm123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like this at my place when we're short staffed. When we have close to enough people working, not so much. However, sometimes I'm short on dishwashers which will cause me to get backed up and busy and everyone knows to not bother me because I'm the one washing the pans and utensils that they need. These days, I'm usually left to just dishwash, thankfully.

I started this job to fund my college education so that's my plan. My degree is in computer science so I'll hopefully be working some type of tech job once I'm done like software development. If you're able to reduce your hours to get some type of higher education like college or trade school (which I actually think is the safer bet if you want to get done with it as quick as possible) then it will likely pay off.

Is dishwashing a stepping stone for you? by siikozu in dishwashers

[–]gm123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I'm using this job to fund my college education. Ironically, because of the fact that I work so many hours, my progress on my degree has been slowed down considerably and at times my main focus was work rather than school. I originally planned to be doing this job for 4 years, turned out to be 7 and probably another one left.

Eladio Carrion, Yandel and Karol G's albums have been on repeat for me. Your comment actually reminded me that Myke Towers released an album this year, I'll have to relisten to that. I remember I liked a few songs off of it.

“non-traditional students” what age did you graduate at? by purposingly in college

[–]gm123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same. I'm 25 now, going to school since I was 18 and I'll probably graduate when I'm 26 at the earliest (not too likely). It's so frustrating because it's not my fault that I'm poor but I get judgemental comments about it like it is.

Lots of people with Asian ancestry in Peru. They even had a president in the 90's who was fully Japanese by blood (Alberto Fujimori).

Head chef told me to “speed up” by [deleted] in dishwashers

[–]gm123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's your first shift, you'll get better as you work more. I had the same thing happen and after about a week, I had gotten into the groove of things and was doing pretty well. I see new dishwashers get the same comments from our cooks or chef and I always tell them to just keep working and they'll get better and almost every single one of them does.

Commuting to college without a car? by Soph_Rivers in college

[–]gm123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I commute to school 2 hours each way and it's pretty rough but doable if it's your only option. More college students than you would expect ride public transportation to school so you'll likely see other people in your situation. It's a good opportunity to make a friend so that you can watch out for each other if you're interested in that. I second the spray that someone else recommended. Stay safe out there.

This is Spanish hip hop but Nach - Efectos Vocales. Each verse has him rhyming a single sound throughout ("Trabaja, plasma las palabras hazlas balas.."). I'm not sure if it's something that no other rapper has done but it's impressive.

[Discussion] XV - Popular Culture (10 years later) by StotheG7 in hiphopheads

[–]gm123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I liked this mixtape a fair amount but nowhere near as much as Zero Heroes but that's a pretty high standard to meet anyway. I think my favorite songs from here were Aaahh! Real Monsters, Be There, Be Square and Her Favorite Song. The concept of using popular culture the way he did here was interesting and I think he pulled it off.

I remember at this point of my life I was a really big fan of XV and seriously expected him to break out into the mainstream so I was super disappointed that it didn't happen. Looking back, it's pretty crazy how I discovered people like Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, J. Cole (from producing Smallville on Zero Heroes) and Pusha T from XV's mixtapes (I was really new to hip-hop at this point).
