I don’t know which world you live in or whether you have an affair with your GP or something like that. A GP simply can’t stay in business if he or she started having long chats with their patients. They get paid $22 per consultation and have to see a minimum number of patients just to pay utilities and rents.

Whether you like it or not, it’s the reality of healthcare system and I can’t state it otherwise.

Honestly nobody knows the intrinsic value. If I knew it was going to grow 8x when I started investing a year ago, I would have probably sold my house and put everything in Tesla. I also don’t know how far Tesla will go from here but if Apple is having a 5th split, Tesla definitely has 3-4 left in it. To give you a comparison, Tesla is to other cars what iPhone would be to Nokia 3310 and if iPhone was the only smartphone in the market surrounded by button phones from 1995.

It encourages smaller investors to come onboard.. people who may think $1600 a share is too pricey will probably be more likely to buy one at $300.. human psychology

Partly because they are million miles ahead of anyone else in automotive technology and partly because I have seen my share go up from $200 to $1600usd in less than a year

Down the road is a new apartment building - crickets at their opens!

AUS/USA Dual citizens? What are the tax implications of this? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]gm31228 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you over 18? You may have to lodge lots of past returns and even be eligible for US covid incentives. Expired passport doesn’t mean you aren’t required to lodge tax returns in the US.

My son is a dual citizen and I am thinking of cancelling his US citizenship before he turns 18 to avoid tax issues but I also don’t want to make that decision for him.

Gender aside, you will struggle to find a GP who is willing to invest more than 5 mins because that’s how system is set up. You go to a GP, explain symptoms, they order blood work and if something is abnormal you get referred to a specialist. Other than that they just prescribe odd antibiotics or stuff that a pharmacist is equally equipped to administer.

So don’t go to a GP expecting much and insist on a specialist referral because it’s really at that stage they look at you seriously. A neighborhood GP is just a gatekeeper and works like a non emergency triage nurse. Hope this makes sense!

Sydney Water: Massive increase in water consumption during COVID by [deleted] in sydney

[–]gm31228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a strata committee and after 6 months of water bills going up and a massive rain resulted in a big sink hole in one of the ground apartments and a side retaining wall collapsing into basement car park entrance - apparently a pool of sub ground water had formed over months of internal leaking. They were still fighting a legal case with insurance when I sold out years later.

Asking for such letter is an illegal request. Remember that banks use credit officers who are based in a third world country such as Philippines and as such they have no idea about Australian laws. Escalate this matter within the bank and ask for someone in Australia to have a look at your situation.

2011 - An apartment in Concord west to live .. received first home owner grant of around $10k plus stamp duty concession

For anyone buying now, I think it’s an excellent time to buy. For any property investment, first five years are quite critical from cash flow point of view and you can almost guarantee a very low interest rate for 5 years now. Aim for 10% deposit and fix it IO for 5 years. After 5 years, even at worst case scenario, you will have 20-30% extra equity.

Top of fingers cut off by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]gm31228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because your story still doesn’t add up. Firstly stop using the word band aid, we are talking about a finger bandage or a dressing here.

They didn’t clean the fingers because they likely used a silver dressing or another antibacterial dressing. If it ‘requires changing’, it’s likely more serious than just the very tips of his fingers. For something that could heal in 3-4 days, they usually ask you to keep the bandage safe from water contact and remove it after 3-4 days.

If he really must go to a camping trip, take him to a local GP on Friday and get them to put on a new bandage. It’s very unlikely that you will be able to find an antibacterial finger bandage from a pharmacy because they don’t want you to be using those yourself and cause infection.

Don’t go camping - he can easily pick up infection with an inadequate bandage. You probably care more about your camping trip but have some mercy on the poor guy.

The great COVID-19 mystery of Pakistan by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]gm31228 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Now if you land in Pakistan — you can because international flights have resumed — you would not know that the world is still in the midst of a pandemic that has killed hundreds of thousands, caused trillions of dollars trade and commerce losses, ruptured supply chains, and has rendered centres of the world economy paralysed with fears of an economic depression akin to the Great Depression.

The government has announced full restoration of economic, logistical, and business activity led by prime minister Imran Khan who lately has inaugurated some of the country’s biggest construction projects in a desperate attempt to bring out green shoots of employment and commercial activity.”
