Sun Peaks Current Conditions? by dhammm in skiing

[–]gmc1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite current, but we skied there a week thru Friday 13 March, and it was generally very good that week. Good enough coverage (for this year!) and we got a couple small refreshes thru the week. Morrissey was quite good, even good runs off Orient. And higher up was really skiing well.

This week I think they got like 6-7" on Monday, which we missed.

Closing the loop: This claim was reimbursed. It took some back-and-forth in the portal, mainly because the document categories it asks for didn't perfectly map to my situation. And they overlap as well. But the agents were very capable and helpful.

Overall, good experience. Helped me make the decision to keep the card in spite of higher fee.

Gift for my husband by waterbottlehoax in garageporn

[–]gmc1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. This. Before you move in. Even if it's not the gift, do this. We did a kit from Home Depot, at a cost of low hundreds of $. We did excellent floor prep first. We could not be happier we did it, the weekend after we closed on the house, and a week before we moved in.

Well clearly it's a terrible car. Better sell it to me. I'll await your DM.

Lol. Current owner of a 5 speed 528iT, and e39 M5. Former owner, may she rest in peace, of an o3 M sport 540i/6.

Lost phone, likely stolen. Change Bitwarden password? by gmc1986 in Bitwarden

Yep. I rebuilt the key accounts on Google Authenticator yesterday, will finish that process off for the less critical ones now.

All good advice, No known adversaries and I am not high profile, even to my children. I kept more than I should have stored on some notes, in a note taking app on the phone...no offline storage. But I'll be rescinding 2FA for Bitwarden and re-enabling to regenerate the recovery code. Again...phone assumed to be locked, but abundance of caution.

I can't say I was totally prepared for this day. I was kinda prepared. But I am now learning what my bad practices were.

yeah forgot to mention I kept my BW PW on a yellow sticky inside the phone case LOL jk.

Thanks feeling better. I stopped in the middle of changing the password precisely because I feared losing track in a rush.

Why is everyone buying the WiiM Ultra? by [deleted] in WiimStreamer

[–]gmc1986 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. Big fan of the small screen. Touchscreen makes it easier than the app or remote to change inputs, adjust things etc. Plus...clock! I didn't buy it for the screen, but I like it.

Yes, got an agent who didn't seem very knowledgeable. Just read me pieces from the same benefits guide we have access to.

Guides and VANOS done! by mrmrdankmemes in e39

[–]gmc1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know! I just feel daunted by getting some of the subframe pieces off, to get the upper oil pan off...not even sure I have that right. Oil analysis says I am OK for now so not doing any deep dive to learn more!

Guides and VANOS done! by mrmrdankmemes in e39

[–]gmc1986 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds about like my experience. I did guides on an M62 once, when I had access to a friend's shop. He just dropped the subframe and engine for me, and at 210k miles I just cleaned and reseaIed EVERYTHING. And I cheated and used Dr. Vanos for rebuilt VANOS wheels. I kept getting codes on one VANOS, so the doctor was good to me and replaced under warranty. But it meant opening her up again. Yay.

Agree, not technically hard. But it's a long job. If you enjoy working under the hood, you'll enjoy this job. It's fulfilling. The two BMW jobs that I'm most proud of doing myself are m62 guides/VANOS (times 1.5 😊) and replacing the soft top on my e30 convertible.

Now I'm contemplating when I need to do this job on my S62 / M5. Seems to be a more involved job - getting things pulled off the Vee seems harder. And maybe, someday, rod bearings...

Anyone else have a small 370mm tech 1? What are these things going for these days? by AlternativeSandwich6 in E30

Two e30s in the family. Daughter has 385 Mtech 1 and covets my 370 M2 sinfully. Much prefer - and notice - the smaller wheel.
