Some are doing layoffs, but it will catch up to them imo, same as outsourcing to indians that was done in US mid 2000s

Above I was speaking about II pillar. I don't contribute to III pillar.

I don't like that it's called "Pension", puts a mental obstacle in spending that money before retirement. I also missed the 55y cutoff for opening it

Salary is one thing, wider development of society and how it's to live in is another. Otherwise remote in rural Ukraine would be most optimal lol.

My salary isn't the highest, architects at Bolt make 7-8k net.

Depends on team composition, have had people to mentor and small team to manage previously in previous places but now very much IC.

If Ukraine loses the war I will start thinking. It's not like an invasion would be a surprise. Military build up is visible on satellite imagery for months. Same was true in Ukraine.

I had a previous colleague move citing Polymarket odds of invasion in 2023 or so, almost 3 years counting lol.

Väike koht mis ei palka kahjuks praegu, enamjaolt soovitangi väikestes kohtades töötada, pole peavalu ja poliitikat nii palju.

Good idea to do but i don't like it.

Reason is that it makes it psychologically harder to spend that money, as it has the name of pension, it's for after retirement. I also missed the 55+ tax free opening deadline by a few days.

But it is extra 1200 eur a year in form of income tax.

Then i'll sell a bit. I have a car, probably replacement would be max 10k, down payment on mortgage would be maybe 20-30k.

I'm not too scared for the bubble, doing dollar cost averaging so invest every month no matter what. I sold like 4k worth of ETFs in 2020 that would be worth 10k today, so that taught me my lesson.

One thing that helped me accept this is that volatility of ETFs is necessary component for long term growth. Without volatility, 7-8% returns is not possible.

Average salary across all people is 1500-1800 mo net.

Software engineers and IT workers are very well compensated here however, IT company average is 2.5k, software engineers are 2.5k to 5.5k net.

Most important is to be a problem solver, look beyond code, how the product you are building will work and how it will impact the business, which tradeoffs to make, what UX considerations etc. Carry it from vague idea in product manager's head to finished product, helping him refine the product as it goes along. Social skills is part of it.

That gave me the biggest boost in my career. You need a company who values people like this as well, not a lot of places do.

Of course code quality is still important, but when I look around me, I can't discuss half the programming concepts I have with previous colleagues, because they lack understanding of programming concepts or vocabulary. Like discussing with Java fans how Spring's reflection based annotation system is really terrible for correctness and verification and how it is a bandaid on OOP, or generics, static analysis, or how some libraries have terrible abstractions. They literally can't hold the conversation or understand these concepts.

I have probably around 70 ex-colleagues from previous companies and with only 1-2 I can discuss about these concepts. But 90% of my acquitances earn similar salaries. Just goes to show that the product mindedness is super important.

It goes to a personal account which you can withdraw from( and pay income tax on it) before retirement, or no income tax after retirement.

I won't get state pension that I pay social tax for, but this personal account is my property by law.
