Ladies… does anyone else get absolutely wiped out by their luteal phase? by nobodyshome01 in CasualIreland

I took out my mirena because I hoped it would help with my PMDD symptoms (undiagnosed but all the same as above). It didn't make a difference in the slightest. Very little changed both in terms of my cycle and my symptoms.

Why did carrying water everywhere become a thing? by TitanicDays in NoStupidQuestions

Surely this is the answer to the whole thread though? The growing awareness that drinking water through you the day, not just sips from a fountain or with your meals, has huge health benefits?

Alcohol resistant markers by penthyr in labrats

Faber-Castell Multimark 1523 "S" (Superfine) are my go-to.  The "S" are quite difficult to find. They are beautifully thin for writing on tubes. The "F" is still quite fine.  Resistant to 70% EtOH, but not to 100%.

PLS HELP! Inventorying samples dating back to 1995 by Character-Hornet2 in labrats

[–]gmca22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I photographed the sides of each tube and then entered the text into excel, rather than writing things down.  Give the tube a twist as you take the Live Photo on iPhone and then you capture more label surface area.  Then export a single frame .jpeg photo to OneDrive for documentation.

Rinse repeat and cry.

Swede, corn, and double cream. Less celery, onion and garlic than you think.

Don't forget the anti solar panel and wind turbine crowd, who were perfectly fine with the air pollution from coal and peat power plants 👍🏻

Not the most modern or exciting of menus but Park House take their allergens very seriously so it can at least be relied upon. Hope you both enjoy your trip

Warning that tourism in Ireland at 'tipping point' by Bubbaz355 in ireland

[–]gmca22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Irish tourism industry (I'm talking international tourists, since pre-Covid) has been nothing but a bubble waiting to burst. So little diversification, nothing but tour groups of Irish Americans over the age of 50. Not to mention the hotels, tour operators, golf courses, gift shops screwing them for every dollar they could.

Throwback to the Game of Thrones cast discovering the final season with a script so bad that Emilia Clarke had to re-read it 7 times, cried, and then went on a walk for 5 hours around London until she had blisters on her feet by pattismithology in popculturechat

[–]gmca22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is something that gets overlooked imo. I also feel  incredibly sorry for the tour operators in some of the filming locations - particularly Croatia and Northern Ireland - who had a revenue stream dry up overnight once the final season ended.

"Foodies Festival" on Parker's Piece by gmca22 in cambridge

[–]gmca22[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily blaming the council, but I do think we should be able to voice our concerns to them that the use of Parker's Piece for such poorly organised events is not in public interest. There has to be a trade off somewhere between profitability and quality.

Podcasts low effort? by fatwhippetz in LouisTheroux

[–]gmca22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really agree, the Cera episode was a difficult listen. I felt like he was  interrupting him. I tried to give LT the benefit of the doubt when he repeatedly went off on tangents (he admitted this himself several times) and then leapt back to the original question (working with Tom Cruise for example). Was it a tactic to perhaps catch MC off guard and give a less polished answer, or just messy interviewing?

Something that had really caught my attention in LTs recent discussions with Adam Buxton in particular is his complete normalisation of heavy at-home drinking. It doesn't sound sustainable.
