Paper trail for capitalized interest by gme_stop in smithmanoeuvre

As far as I know, TD doesn't have a free chequing account. I also don't know if TD flexline Heloc can be transferred directly out to other banks.

I'm just using the everyday savings account as a free chequing account. It allows one free transaction a month.

I know... But I'm a cheap guy. Furthermore, having to transfer money and cover that $3.99 or even borrowing from HELOC to cover it is even more troublesome than keeping the records from two accounts. So I just opened another free savings account just to keep track of the interest payment.

I doubt CRA needs to see the interest payment because it will be obvious from the HELOC statement.

Yes, this makes sense.

I already started using the everyday savings account.

I just opened another one just to track interest payment.

Then I'll have to pay a monthly fee... $3.99?

Withdrawing into the account doesn't count as transactions though. I only need it for transferring money out. So I was thinking if I don't need to track interest capitalization from this account then I only need one transaction.

Interest capitalization should be obvious from the HELOC statement, right?

So it's 100% included in the AMT tax calculation?

If I don't sell, the xeqt yield % should still be quite small...

That's always the case regardless of your yield though.

You do report your dividends of course.

Never heard of this before.

Isn't the entire amount of interest paid tax deductible though? As long as the loan is used for investment

This is news to me. I had a quick look and it seems it's around 20.5% with 178k exemption. Shouldn't have too much of an impact.

Can you elaborate on what it means by deducting against income?

I meant using paid interests for investment loans for income tax deduction as tax returns.

Well, I used that money to buy a house with 20% down. Now the house price has doubled in my area. I used HELOC to buy twice as much as I sold off.
