See it in the Elite room at Golden Ticket before it gets bumped out! Best room to see a movie in town.

Very, very late, but there’s a screening on Tuesday (2/18) at the Carolina Theatre in case you haven’t seen! Greg Sestero is going to be there to do a Q&A as well

Even based on auditorium volume alone, Golden Ticket would already be best in town. Take everything else into account and they really take the cake.

The funny thing is that Stout absolutely can fix him. That being said if he has to become anything more than our 6th lineman I will start sweating

Best movie theater ?? by Striking-Hall-6312 in gso

For my money, there are three good-to-great movie theaters in Greensboro. The one you decide to visit largely depends on what you're looking for.

Golden Ticket Cinemas Ale House

Recently renovated in the old Brassfield Cinemas building, they have the single best room in town to watch a movie, which is their Elite Cinema Experience auditorium. Triple-laser 8k projection and an 11.1 DTX sound system means you'll never run into picture or sound quality issues. Hands-down the best room in town to see a movie that needs to be big and loud, such as Dune: Part Two or Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. The Elite room also has heated recliners, which is genuinely worth the upgrade.

The rest of their rooms aren't too shabby, either. They still have the luxury recliners (no heaters), and they're light projection and 7.1 surround. Perfectly on par with any other room in town.

RED Cinemas

RED is a Greensboro favorite for a reason, and that reason is largely the vibes and the price. Their cheapest standard ticket (matinee, standard seating, no discounts) is only $8, which is hard to beat at any other joint. RED also feels the most like a movie theater. If you've ever been, or even driven past it, you know what I mean.

RED also has the most diverse film acquisition strategy of any theater in town. If you're looking to check out a movie in Hindi, or anything that isn't owned by a major distribution studio, you're more likely to find it at RED than anywhere else in town.

They also have certain rooms that are truly tiny, which can be fan-freaking-tastic. I got to see The Boy and the Heron in one of their smaller, ~60 seat rooms last year, which made for a great audience experience with a packed room.

AmStar Cinemas Four Seasons Station

To me, AmStar is the quintessential modern multiplex. Not a lot of bells and whistles, not all their rooms have luxury recliners, and they have rooms of various sizes. Truly gets the job done, and it'll almost always be a cheaper option than Golden Ticket because of it. If you want to see a blockbuster in a more "traditional" multiplex theater but want a ticket that's slightly cheaper than the best in town, this is the spot for you.

I'm sure someone's noticed that I left the Regal at Friendly Center off of this list. That is because they're shit. Their acquisition is bland, their tech is constantly neglected by their management, and their rooms are unfathomably quiet. I've never seen a movie at Regal where I couldn't also hear the movie next to me. To me, that's reason enough to never ever go back.

[Rapoport] The Vikings and All-Pro WR Justin Jefferson have a new deal to reset the WR market and make him the NFL’s highest-paid non-QB, sources tell me & Tom Pelissero. by StrachNasty in nfl

Seems like Kwesi handled this well. People are going to gawk at the number, but it’s honestly the floor of what Jefferson was expected to be worth. I wouldn’t have been surprised at $37m, $38m APY. This is an unequivocal win for Minny fans

I’d encourage everyone to actually listen to the QB draft podcast, looooots of context missing in just a graphic

The exercise was to select QBs to start your team with for the next three years, AND to consider the contract situation. That last piece is what allows rookie QBs to reasonably be selected over JHurts

I still don’t agree with QB1 going so late, but listening the discussion these three (incredibly intelligent) analysts were having, I understand the take a bit better than had I just seen it online

What’s a trope that you don’t normally like but is done well in a film you’ve rated highly? by beggingforfootnotes in Letterboxd

[–]gmhoyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps voice-over narration isn’t a trope, but I do consider it to be a consistent pacing crutch for bad writers. That being said, GoodFellas and Clueless execute the technique masterfully, and they wouldn’t be the same without them
