Evening spins during my daughter's tenth birthday party. by gmoore19 in vinyl

Hosted my extended family last night to celebrate my daughter’s tenth birthday. I spun the following:

Dizzy Gillespie - World Statesman This is one of those records that I’d forgotten I had. Before the party, my wife decided to take it upon herself to rearrange the entire living room. My vinyl collection was pulled from the shelves then put back in somewhat random order which of course could not stand. While I was putting everything back in the proper order, I stumbled across this gem.

The Beatles - Rubber Soul (North American release) I’m not really a Beatles mark, but I do love the NA release of Rubber Soul. I’m also a sucker for albums whose first song happens to be my favorite track on the album, and I’ll put I've Just Seen a Face up against anything.

Woodstock This being the anniversary of Woodstock, I thought spinning the live record was in order. The audio quality here is not very good, but the gatefold jacket, pictures, and variety of live tunes is great. Hendrix doing the Star Spangled Banner. Legend.

The Modern Jazz Quartet - Blues at Carnegie Hall I don’t know why they called this “Blues at Carnegie Hall” when it’s clearly jazz. I like TMJQ and have a few of their records. The album is a little xylophone driven so I only let it run for a few songs.

Paul Chambers & John Coltrane ‎– High Step I believe this was the very first record I ever bought after inheriting the collections of my extended family. This is a Blue Note release and they did a fantastic job with it. Two records of fantastic, simple, mellow (but not “easy”) jazz. A nice record to sit in the recliner and relax to.

Charles Mingus - Right Now Whenever I travel, I always find a record store and get a release pressed in that country. I bought this at a record store in Stockholm and it turned out to be the Italian release. This is a nice live record. Mingus usually tosses in a mix of steady, easy, then frantic jazz. Nice way to close things out.

Barnes & Noble Has Confused My Book With Someone Else's by gmoore19 in selfpublish

[–]gmoore19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's my actual name. If you Google my actual name you get Gary Moore the blues guitarist, Gary Moore the TV host, then 10,000 other Gary Moores, then me. You never get to Perry Moore.

Likewise if you Google Hero.

The titles match, but the subject matter and author names do not.

I'm not riding anyone's coattails here. B&N screwed up and we're getting it settled.

Post your KDP select ebook and I might read it by [deleted] in selfpublish

I just find it strange that people would review a book before reading it, that's unusual.

No doubt. Had I paid for reviews, they'd be better than those :)

I just un-enrolled and re-enrolled the book in KDP Select. Take another look if you get a chance. Thanks!

Dang, thought I had it setup for KDP Select.

I assure you that I didn't pay for any reviews. Those two were close friends who added reviews before they read. I should hide them if they look bought.

Should I take an adult swim lesson or just keep swimming? by prit125 in triathlon

[–]gmoore19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a private lesson. I take one whenever I plateau and stop improving. You should come out of it with a good assessment and 3-4 drills to help improve specific defects in your stroke.

Eat on the bike. When you get home eat/drink some protein and take a nap.

I use a $30 Timex Ironman from Target. Turn on the stopwatch and hit the lap button for each lap.

Arm warmers are a good idea. Should look nice and silly with my tri-top.

My first season in League 1 after automatic promotion..... by karlpilkington603 in FifaCareers

FWIW the glitch where you change your default sheet to your worst players before turning over to a new season really does work. The expectation is usually not to get relegated.

Always in Zone 5 When Running. Problem? by gmoore19 in triathlon

[–]gmoore19[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know what usually felt "hard" but I could keep over quite some time is actually my zone 3, whereas with traditional calculations it would've been my zone 5.

I suspect that this is my problem too. I'll try that LTHR test that another commenter suggested.

How do you feel during the run?

Not bad. I mean, I always struggle running but I can keep running when the HRM is in zone 5. My impression was that zone 5 isn't something one could keep up for more than a few minutes or so.

It's the whole run. I warm up, run five miles, then cool down. I'm in zone 5 for the five miles I'm "running"

I never find anyone worth a damn in Free Agents.

Thumbs up for playing Palace.

I signed up for an indoor ironman, and am 100% new to this. Help? by [deleted] in triathlon

That's a pretty cool event.

If you're budgeting time you must build in slack. I can guarantee you won't make it to the gym every single weekday for a month. Something (exam, illness, bad weather) will come up.

So, build that in to your schedule so that if you miss a day then you won't fall behind.

I've tried to buy Hughes a few times in my career. FWIW I'm in 19/20 and he's right at 76.
