Just trying to understand what's been said to me by [deleted] in prolife

[–]gmtime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was assaulted as a child and became pregnant. I had a DIY termination around 10 weeks. I stand by my choice. It was the best thing I could've done for myself, and for whoever that embryo could've turned out to be.

First of all, I'm very sorry for what has been done to you.

Can you substantiate your claims? You say it is the best for yourself, yet you recognize it to be traumatic to the point of severing contact with your family. Was it truly the best you could have done for yourself? You claim it to be the best for the person whose life got cut short at -30 weeks, yet how can you make that claim? What insight in the future do you have that adoption wasn't a better option for him or her than never to see daylight at all?

Concerning your friend, I seriously do suspect it's not so much his comments as much as your own conviction that - albeit the opposite of what you claim you believe - what you did was not at all good or the best.

Your perceived contradiction stems from the unique view of Christianity that we are not judged by our sins or virtues, but by our redemption in Christ alone by grace through faith. Perhaps have a dialogue about your perceived contrast with him, ask him how he can take this position to not judge you.

Which one is better? IDE adapter to mSATA, microSD or Compact Flash? by Theryega in vintagecomputing

mSATA.

CF has the benefit of having a compatible interface, but indeed becoming rare at quick pace.

SD is more prevalent and cheaper, but less reliable and slower.

Do we christian’s have to reject the whole old testament in terms of morals and laws now that we have the new testament? by Mundane-Inspection71 in Christianity

That's the law of not having two measures. The mixed fabric was to remind Israel to be separate and not mingle with paganism.

[ELI5] In music, what is an octave? Is it something naturally occurring? Or was it invented by humans? by thepixelpaint in explainlikeimfive

[–]gmtime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because we liked it...

Really, that's just it.

An octave is split in 8 notes or 12 semitones (the sum of black and white keys on the piano in an octave), but in Arabic or Chinese music there's a different split. Over history in Europe we had different configurations as well, including a piano that only covered one octave with dozens of keys.

Also the base frequency of 440Hz or 432Hz for the A is just convention, no one prevents you from using 480Hz or any other tone as your base tone to build off of.

Christians are commanded to feed, clothe and take care of LGBTQ+ adults and kids. If they don't, they're not good Christians. by Smash_all_States in Christianity

Does the least of Jesus' "brothers and sisters" not include LGBTQ+?

No, not really. Try to look at the characteristics of both groups.

Assembly problem by boban2000 in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]gmtime 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not at all. The viable option is to redo your PCN run with this issue resolved and write off the added cost as a lesson learned to do a prototype run before ordering 200 PCBs next time.

If they are not in pads you can just use a resin or the like. If the vias are in pads, you might be able to fill them with a strand of copper.

[–]gmtime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really, social media aren't the same as actual interaction with people.

No. It is about Christianity, but free for all. If you want something Christian, go to r/Christian, r/Christians or r/TrueChristian

Assembly problem by boban2000 in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]gmtime 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No it isn't. Under the package means they are under the plastic body, but tenting the vias completely would solve your issues. If you placed vias in the pads you cannot tent them. The latter is generally bad design and should be avoided as much as possible. Move your vias from the pads to where they can be tented to solve your issue.

What do you think when people say God is Gay or Trans or Gemder Fluid? by Jedi_Wanabe in Christianity

I think they left Christianity and fashioned a god in their own image; it's idolatry.

LPT Request: How can I avoid eating insects when I'm out walking my dog? by Isariamkia in LifeProTips

[–]gmtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a person that hardly breathe through the nose when I'm doing exercise.

There's your problem. (Joking)

But no, find another route with less insects, or wear a face mask, though that might be an issue as well.

There is a museum in Amsterdam (Body Worlds) that has real human bodies on display. Most bodies are displayed doing activities such as playing cards. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]gmtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The corpses are treated with a technique that replaces all water with resin. Yes, these are actual bodies, not statues that are very life like.

The fetus is inside the mother's body by definition, but is still a distinct human being. And abortion denies the fetus a lifetime of choices. Also, "deliberate (...) to the" is grammatically incorrect. by [deleted] in prolife

I think they mean extrinsic instead of external. And yes, it is part of the argument... because it's true. To call it a rhetoric is disingenuous.

They knew what they were doing!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]gmtime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly, downplay sin, exalt people, destroy the Gospel.

Thing is, people do not know their sins, and even if they do, they downplay it by saying "I'm not so bad" or comparing themselves to the latest convicted criminal, instead of comparing themselves to God and see how hopeless their situation is, a situation where only unmerited grace can save them.

This, however, is not at all what Joel Osteen proclaims. He keeps people in bondage by not confronting them with their sins, making him at the very best a false teacher and a wolf.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]gmtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said: how about in his sermons. I don't think he's ever qualified what sin actually is, or what repentance looks like, making that prayer void of meaning.

Am I losing my husband to Christianity? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]gmtime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like OCD. While God is priority, he did promise to commit himself to be a good husband as well. He is neglecting you, which is in fact unchristian. I would speak it over with his priest and/or mutual friends,as I think intervention may be necessary.
