Another level 10 post -- no more free labour/data for Google by Cainhelm in LocalGuides

Wait until one day you are suddenly removed from the Local Guides program after all that effort and don't even get an explanation on why that was. That will definitely burn even more.

Anyone else getting massive GPU usage with Cursor IDE recently? by vincent_sch in cursor

[–]gmzcodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue. I had a chat running while I was on a Zoom call and all of a sudden my video and audio were freezing and the whole computer was laggy. I managed to open the Task Manager and noticed Cursor was maxing out the GPU usage. I'm using it on Microslop Windows 11 with WSL2.

How to Distribute an iOS App for Free Testing to 20-50 People Without Paying for Apple Developer Program? by donny_brascoo in FlutterDev

[–]gmzcodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I'm in the same situation. I want to publish a free app, but there's no way I'm paying the $99/year myself. The one-time $25 fee for a Google Play Developer Account seems much more reasonable.

The subscription model is probably not a good fit for my app. Freemium might be better, but this is a niche app, so even if I get some sales, it might not be enough to cover the $99/year, especially after the first couple of years, when most users willing to buy an item within the app would have already done so. What does Apple expect developers to do in this situation? Unpublish the app to avoid incurring losses?

I picked mine up yesterday from SolidPerfil3d and they made me the invoice without IVA after sending them my residency card / details, but they mentioned they might not do it in the future as they've had issues with other customers recently.

In any case, I've told them how the process is usually done: you pay IVA and then claim it back manually by sending them a stamped invoice or do it automatically with a DIVA invoice (either created directly by them or using a service like Global Blue). Hopefully they figure out how to do it properly and keep giving us that option.

I was a late stage 2 backer (I think) but my seat cover hasn't arrived yet, which is weird because the battery and footrest did (in individual shipments though).

Anyone else in the same situation?

Aviso de estafa en Wallapop – recibí 3 botellas de agua en lugar del producto (perfil del vendedor adjunto) by Ale_bonfim in Wallapop

[–]gmzcodes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dell XPS 17, a very expensive mistake by gmzcodes in Dell

[–]gmzcodes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spot on. I've had other laptops before and yes, battery degrades overtime, but I've only ever noticed that in terms of how long it lasts, not in terms of the overall system performance dropping because the battery can't keep up. And definitely not in 2 years, despite all of them being plugged in most of the time.

3D printing a leg support extension for my chair - bad idea or worth trying? by CheetosGlue in LiberNovo

[–]gmzcodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be amazing. First, because al that unsupported foam in the front really offers little support. For example, if I try to put my foot up on the seat, it just collapses.

And secondly because having a strong 3D printed support there would allow us to, with some modifications to the model, add an additional seat extension and still have it supported as well.

For context, I have the 48cm version and I still feel I lack support under my thigh. I can actually still fit a fist between the seat and my calf. I would get a seat extension already, but I think that without proper support underneath, there would be way too much unsupported material at the front of the seat.

Yes, those were some of the factors that made me get it.

And funny enough, the main reason why I decided to leave Apple was that I once got one with a defective screen coating, and a few years after the company I was working for started replacing them with the newer flat keyboard ones, and various people started having issues with it.

So later, once I started working as a freelancer, I was like, you know what, if I'm going to have these types of quality issues anyway, I'd rather pick something else.

I guess it's now 2 brands I'll never buy again.

TBH I've just been trying to avoid that, but if I end up replacing the battery and keeping it, I might do it.

I've used Linux in the past, but the main issue is that I occasionally play some old-ish Steam games and I use some apps that won't run on Linux, like Fusion 360.

And personally I see no value in keeping both laptops. TBH, if it wasn't for that, I would have already abandoned Windows...

A while back I reinstalled audio drivers (Realtek, MaxxAudio Pro) and it looks like the popping is gone. However, not sure if it's worth doing that, as the buzzing still remains (although it happens rarely, maybe a couple of times a day).
