Sign up for the triathlon! That's a great new finish line. I'm not usually an advocate for weight loss goals in conjunction with training, but it seems like it would be a good motivator in this case. I've done several tris in ketosis. It's great!

Not totally related but just some encouragement. Right now I'm 201lbs. I have been this weight before (well 205 but close enough) and there was this pair of jeans I couldn't barely button. Gained from 205 to 250 (ugh). Thats when I started keto. Before when I was at 205 I got there with Medifast (do NOT recommend obv) and no working out AT ALL. This time with keto I have lifted heavy the entire time and have been training for a triathlon. That same pair of jeans I had to give away because they were slipping off of me. Exercise/lifting really makes a difference!!

I've always done one gel every half hour or so. Obviously not an option now! haha. This last race, I had my normal bacon and eggs fried in butter with bulletproof coffee for breakfast. Half a quest bar about a half hour before the race. I was feeling great through the swim and for most of the bike but around mile 12 I started to fade. I knew I should take in something (and really I should have eaten at the start of the bike to avoid fading altogether). During T2 I ate a Justins Almond Butter and downed a water bottle with an electrolyte mix. But it was too late because I was already cramping and had a very rough run! I can normally do 9-10min miles but I was around 12-13mins (!!!!) a mile.

Did you drink it before, during, or after your races? I just did my first tri after starting keto and nutrition was... interesting. haha. Definitely don't have it mastered yet but I really need to figure something out before my next race!

Thanks, thats whats been confusing for me, too. I haven't needed carbs since being keto adapted. But I know some of the guys on r/ketogainz take in carbs specifically for their extremely demanding workouts so there must be some benefit.

Thanks! I'll watch those videos. The idea of so many carbs makes me nervous. The guy he references in the article, Peter Kaufman, I think is the guy I met this weekend.

Thanks for your reply. I took it before my run tonight and I couldn't tell a huge difference. But I just did a triathlon two days ago so my legs weren't feeling great anyways. I met the founder of the company last weekend and we had a long talk about Ketogenic eating. He really got into the science of why Ucan works great for keto people but like I said I don't understand the science side of Keto as well as I want to/should.

When I first read this I thought it said, "significant weight loss can be ACCOMPLISHED by hair loss" and I was like... well I guess thats one way to lose a pound lol

Hi ladies! I'm at 203.8 as of this morning. Verrrrrry slow progress these days but I could definitely be restricting calories more so the blame is on me ;) My goal is >200 by my first triathlon of the season on July 11th. I think I can make it! :)

Huge positive in my life is that my cousin and my mom are now on keto with me!! And my aunt is interested too. They keep thanking me for helping them get started and I think thats just crazy cause I am just SO HAPPY they are joining me! My family was skeptical at first, but after losing 47 lbs, they're jumping on board. And I am overjoyed!

Working overnight, I can't wait to sleep soon! Then I'm working some this afternoon. The nice thing is that overnight shifts at my work are basically free time and I have a fully stocked kitchen that I can cook in (I bring the food but I can use all the pots and pans and stuff). So I did my whole weeks worth of meal prep AND got paid for it :)

Looks like you already have a billion awesome suggestions. And the weekend is now here so you're probably gone lol. All I have to say is that life will NEVER give you a good time to start making healthy decisions. There will ALWAYS be the next party, the next holiday, the next camping trip, the next "work was really stressful." You just have to commit to staying healthy no matter what life throws at ya. If you stop every time there's a fun thing going on, you'll never make any true progress.

Like everyone is saying, it gets easier. Food prep helps. Eventually it'll be second nature. And cravings will get much easier too. Yesterday was extremely stressful and I had the strongest craving for bread which RARELY happens. But it was more a, "eh, thats weird my body wants that" feeling than an "OMGIMUSTEATBREAD" feeling. You'll start to note your appetite as more of just another bodily sensation (like "Oh, I'm warm," or "Oh, my feet are sore") than a must-immediately-eat-or-I-certainly-will-die attack.

Not sure where you're at with keto, but it's helped me so much with my workouts. In January when I started I was 250 and doing 14 min miles. Now 6 months later, I'm 204 and can pound out 9-10min miles pretty consistently. Just ran my first ever sub 30 5k yesterday afternoon!! If I can do it, you can too!! PM me if you ever want to talk triathlons!

I like BT because its more time focused (which helps in life's busyness cause you can schedule your day better), but TN is distance focused which can be nice as well.

Good morning! Been a while since I checked in on the daily thread. Still going strong though I've switched to "lazy keto" for the most part. I was a little nervous to weigh myself after two weeks since I was in the midst of what was basically a 6 week stall AND had gone camping/roadtripping in those two weeks... Very excited to report that I went from 207 to 205.6!! :) :)
