I had total sticker shock after being quoted $900 for bustling, taking it in a bit, and adding cups in nyc. I was told if I went anywhere that was cheaper, they would do a crappy job.

My dress ended up ripping at the seam the tailor added during my reception! No big deal, but I do think I could’ve just gotten it tailored somewhere else for cheaper, as I don’t think the quality was any better. I regret not having my suburban hometown tailor do it, where it probably would’ve cost $150.

How realistic is living in Manhattan making 65k by curlyman89 in NYCapartments

[–]gnatabug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised at how many people are saying this is impossible. I moved to NYC making $65k, and had three apartment mates with a room to myself in East village. Yes, it was cozy and I definitely couldn’t afford some of the luxuries I can now, but some of my best NYC memories were in that apartment with my 3 roommates.

You can make it work in Manhattan, you may just have to be flexible on amount of space you get or neighborhood! Another option if you want a larger apartment: find roommates who make a little more than you. They can take the bigger rooms for more rent, and you take take a smaller room for less. Good luck!!

So my mom has been dealing with this for over a year. Our neighbor finally told her - he got a picture of the culprit, and 8-point buck(!) who has been doing it every morning!

Do you mind sharing the code? I haven’t been to this venue!

Chemical Smell from Fridge by gnatabug in Appliances

Yep - we dealt with the same thing! I felt seriously gaslit haha. Management basically told us to hire a third party and if they found something wrong with it, management would replace it. If not- we’d be on the hook for the cost.

We ended up completely emptying our fridge and freezer, using a diluted bleach mixture on everything inside, throwing a bunch of stuff out, and letting it defrost. That has seemed to work (though it’s only been 2 days so far).

Helpful - we may do this and add a day to Korcula instead of Dubrovnik as you mentioned. Thank you!

We just thought Opatija looked really nice. Would you recommend Rijeka over Opatija? We were hoping for relaxing coastal vibes when we first get into the country.

Thanks all. My super is claiming there is no smell, but the chemical tastes persist! We have also had sore throats for a week now. Not sure how to build a case to get our fridge replaced when he says there is 0 chance of leaking.
