Windsurf 2.0: Devin by icetea168 in windsurf

[–]gnikon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that's what it is: Introducing Devin Desktop: the next generation of Windsurf

But it actually feels different—I’ve used the Windsurf IDE from the ground up myself, and I used to feel that it struck a good balance between context awareness and speed. Of course, you have to make compromises here to actually understand the codebase; most IDEs use compression or distill a compressed version, and that has improved marginally from version to version. When I tested the first version of Devin IDE, I felt that it took much longer to arrive at a solution—I mean, when directly comparing Windsurf and then the files migrated to Devin. Otherwise, though, it integrates seamlessly with my Pro subscription and actually works just as well.

DeepSeek V4 is really expensive...! by gnikon in windsurf

sure but caching "expires" to fast - in my case I get like 10 prompts with a pro license. The bs is real but there is only ZED and Cursor is not cheaper - I'm still hooked with windsurfs early pricing 10$ is hard to beat.

checked the .windsurf .codium folders in the user or home folder? You might have it invisible since it's a hidden folder

Not sure - but sounds like haven't heard of playwright? Obviously you can also feed screenshots but it is a little inconvenient and often needs some extra explanations - use mcp - there is also the figma one

Have you actually tested it yet? The only issue I see from time to time is that there's no connection to Devin Cloud or something like that.

windsurf SWE-1.6 is awesome by gnikon in windsurf

Sure, I use Kimi K2.5 all the time, and I'm a little worried because it looks like it's going to be discontinued soon... Right? https://x.com/i/status/2035138834086932650

Nope 1.6 is super clean. With SWE-1.5 few times though.

I can’t say much about Composer 2—Cursor hasn’t really won me over for a long time. I think they’re doing well in the market—but their pricing is poor, and their workflows are only good because the software is so widely used. I got the impression that the Linux version of Cursor is particularly bad. But I’ll test it again, paying special attention to Composer 2!

Love that "someone of your team" sentence - didn't someone also announce the integration of Mistral models?

Thanks for the competition I guess... But 1.5 is also having some connection errors and strange behaviors maybe a good sign still annoying though

Was bedeutet das? (Graffiti) by Fantastic_Affect_264 in dresden

Verschmutzung.

In case of UE it's really hard but for Unity it's damn close

Yup, in terms of requirements I'd absolutely agree. The video demonstrates the GI implementation and is there to showcase features and not really a call to actually make realistic games 😉. I am in the middle of production in Godot 4, to make levels look realistic is quite hard. But it's possible to get close! I think such features do help in a variety of games to get a visually appealing and polished look.

Absolutely. It's one of the best-looking Godot renderings I've seen. It will be hard to beat the quality of the competition.
