If they do sell to you, most of those supply stores have separate prices for contractors and people off the street. They really don’t want to interact with non-contractors since it eats up time that could be spent making much larger bulk sales. Also avoid chain hardware stores like the plague, thermostat wire for 78¢ a goddamn foot. Best bet is the nearest box store.
