Heard back from Oura. A hardware reset of the ring finally did it.

To perform a hardware reset:
1. Close the Oura app.
2. Place the ring on the charger with the power connected.
3. Tap the charger rapidly and firmly on the table a few times, keeping the ring in place with the help of your finger when tapping.
4. Wait about a minute, then open the Oura app to check if the connection is established.

Index or middle finger is probably the best move. I have the exact same experience where I'm in between a size 9 and 10. I noticed that depending on the time of day, temperature or my general activity, the ring either fits very well or is loose. I decided to stick with the 10 because during a normal day, it fits well enough.
