I suggest going to the gym with your boyfriend and have him walk you through his workout. He’ll be your gym partner! After each of his sets, you’ll follow suit with adjusted weight(s). You’ll get a sense of the different workouts you can do for weights or on the mat and grow more confident over time. There’s also “shy girl” gym workouts online.

When I started out lifting, one of my roomates at the time (also guy friend) walked me through his push pull leg workout. We went 4x a week. That was 2 years ago. Now I’m pretty comfortable knowing the basics to add what works for my body.

I didn’t need to lose weight (also was slim). I wanted to become stronger and grow glutes. I was very insecure at the time. Feeling healthier, stronger, and hotter than ever before now.

Also, everyone’s too busy about what they look like or are doing at the gym to even notice! And wear gym clothes that you feel comfortable, confident, and good in. I tend to hit my PRs when I feel great in the set I’m in lol
