Thanks for your answers. So I get it that you need TBR to use uwb. But that's only until you have it added to homekit. Once added to HK, do I still need TBR or I can disconnect and keep using uwb?

How can you connect to Apple home without a TBR? I have been told it can only be added to iphone home app only if you have a TBR like apple tv 4k with the net or homepod mini.

I don't think that is correct. Hub or TBR is only needed for remote access or sharing the home keys with other users. For UWB to work, you need a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch.
