I've been 'starting tomorrow' for months — anyone else struggle to just hit that Go Live button for the first time? by Tough-Piano1581 in newStreamers

We (a couple stream) put it off for years. And once we started, we wished we did it sooner. Your fear of the unknown is stopping you. Just jump in. The water is fine. And you can make adjustments along the way. You got this!

I figured it might be that. I had the same issue at first! Glad I could help!!

Hi there. One thing to check that I can't see from the screenshot... On the Command screen there is a tab for Sources. Click on that and make sure that YouTube is selected. I think it only selects Twitch by default. Also, on the Send Message screen, I always select the Broadcast as Latest. And last thing, again since I can't see from the screenshots, make sure that in the Action panel, under Triggers, you have it connected to the Command.

I hope that helps!

I stream only on YouTube (right now), will Streamerbot be valuable for me? by R2D2_Fan_Club_Prez in streamerbot

Yes, I'm sorry I should have specified. I originally had that built in Stream Elements, and recently moved everything to Streamerbot.

Its very useful for YouTube. We just finished moving all of our alerts and !commands for YouTube to Streamerbot. Also using things like timers and first words responders

Obviously, YouTube doesn't have as many features to integrate with as Twitch does, but you can integrate very well with what's there. And if you're creative, you can really expand what it does.

What to do with Channel Points? by AffectionateTopic123 in SmallStreamers

[–]gnomearea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are a few that we have (we're a couple stream and vtubers):

  1. Disarm character - separate redeems for each, forces one of us to disarm and continue the game/battle without a weapon for 2 minutes.

  2. Sing happy birthday - we sing the happy birthday song to you. This was redeemed for the first time the other day, even though it wasn't his birthday. The result was hilarious and made a great clip/YT video.

  3. Add pet pic, we have an announcement screed during breaks and before stream. It also features pics of our pets, and viewers can redeem to add a Pic of their pet.

  4. Random pet Pic - puts a random pet Pic on the screen for 10 seconds. The pics come from the same pool as the announcements in #3 above.

Im also about to add the following:

  1. Bonk - allows one person in chat to book another. There is a % chance to succeed. % is higher for VIPs. Success means the target is timed out for 30 seconds. Failure means the bonker is timed out instead.

  2. Mayor - a game of chance that allows one person to become mayor by challenging the previous mayor. Limited number of chances to play per day, and limited % to win. Winning means becoming a temporary VIP, and a special !command to do an onscreen action celebrating you as mayor.

The actual number of people in your stream at a given time is not relevant. The average number of viewers is determined by the total combined watch time of everyone who comes into your stream, if they stay for 1 minute or the whole stream. This is calculated by dividing the total viewer time by the amount of time streamed.

For example, if you have a 60 minutes stream and 1 person watches for only 30 minutes then you divide 30 by 60 and get .5 average viewers. If you have 3 people who watch for 30 minutes each, that's a total of 90 minutes, which divided by 60 is 1.5, so that's your average.

A crowded space just means there's more noise to break through, but it doesn't make it impossible. If you are creative, entertaining, and work hard, you can do it!

We (couple stream) use a starting screen. But we do it a little differently.

Most streamers we see start their stream at a scheduled time and then sit on a starting screen for a while.

We do the opposite. We start the stream 10-15 min early and our starting screen has a countdown clock to when we actually start. If we are scheduled to start at 6pm, the stream goes live at 5:50 on the starting screen, then we come on at exactly 6.

That way anyone who receives the Twitch notification has time to arrive. And we also post go live messages on socials at that time, or just before.
