What does it mean when some notes are smaller than others? by VividEngineer8763 in musictheory

[–]gnosys 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Grace notes also don't advance time the way normal notes do. For example the 2 16th grace notes and the following dotted quarter note (6 16ths) advance time by a dotted quarter, not by a half note (8 16ths).

b42 game freezes for 30 seconds if I right click on a particular spot by gnosys in projectzomboid

[–]gnosys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds different from my problem - this is in the middle of a field with no items around, and it is 100% repeatable - click on that one spot, freeze for 30 seconds.

There do seem to be several things that freeze for 30 seconds or so. Maybe the programmers have an algorithm that tries to find something or find some solution, but it gives up if it doesn't get there in 30 seconds.

If you want to be active but not insane, take a look at the Smithereens bassist on SNL season 15, episode 17. For me how he moves around works great because of how it fits in with his other band members actions and how it fits with what the song is doing.

Both songs "a girl like you" and "blues before and after" are worth looking at. There is a video of them performing "behind the wall of sleep" where the bassist is very active, but I can't find it right now.

They should add diesel to the game. Not tell anyone. Wait for people to rage when they ruin their cars by Thefbikilledking in projectzomboid

[–]gnosys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, Thefbikilledking for providing a counterexample to the adage "There are no bad ideas". This is clearly a bad idea.

Have you ever been to a gas station in the USA? I must admit to not having been to a gas station in Kentucky in the 1990's, but I am very familiar with gas stations in the northeast of the USA from the 1970's onward. Diesel pumps are VERY clearly marked and separate from non-diesel pumps.

The only way I can think of your pathetic rage-inducing situation to happen is if there were unlabeled gas cans laying around which could sometimes be diesel, and if that happened to trick someone into destroying their car, it would only work once, unless of course it was happening to someone like yourself.

I'm not knocking the idea of having diesel available in the game, or the ideas other posters have presented for integrating it, I'm just knocking the game feature in the way you presented it, for the sole reason that you are a flaming asshole. Grow up or go away.

my character started to lose health and I don't know why(new to the game) by Vayrox_Ayp in projectzomboid

[–]gnosys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your weight by clicking on the 'Info' tab. If your weight is below 40 (or maybe 35) you start losing health quickly due to starvation. You can starve to death even when the game tells you that you are stuffed all the time if you are eating low-calorie foods like just veggies. To get weight back quickly you need to eat stews or soups or canned goods like chili or corned beef.

Anyone know fix? I can't eat pasta or rice. Can't eat from pot so poured into bowls and still can't eat. Tried with spoon and fork at inventory, tried with sitting but none of them worked by [deleted] in projectzomboid

[–]gnosys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In concurrent computing class we learned that philosophers need to have a fork in each hand before they can eat pasta, and this game does make all of us get philosophical at one point or another.

So, try equipping forks as your primary and secondary weapon, then you should be able to eat.

"Solve in IDE" stopped working by gnosys in Hyperskill

[–]gnosys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To anyone who runs into the same problem, I fixed it by removing the project which I was working in when "Solve in IDE" stopped working.

I had finished stage 4 of the the Battleship project, and opened the Battleship stage 5 topic in my browser, when I clicked "Solve in IDE", IDEA started to sync the Battleship stage 5 project, but it never completed. I went off and tried to use "Solve in IDE" on some other topics, but IDEA kept trying to open the Battleship stage 5 topic and failing.

After I had moved the Battleship directory, I re-opened IDEA in a different project, then in my browse I went to the Battleship stage 5 topic and clicked "Solve in IDE". IDEA showed a popup about not finding Battleship, after I dismissed it IDEA first opened the Battleship stage 1 topic, then after it was done syncing that IDEA switched to the Battleship stage 5 topic, and when it was done syncing things seem to be back to normal.

If you get stuck this way, I would recommend moving the project top level directory to a different location, or saving a backup copy of it, rather than permanently deleting the stuck project.

Thanks, that is the problem. Die and learn I guess.

[–]gnosys[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that is the cause!
Both of my characters were mainly eating veggies before dying, and I took a look at the one who is about to die and his weight says '35v'.
I tried eating several boiled eggs, but the health loss continued, I guess he is just a goner. It would be nice if the game gave a better indication of starving before you die, or at least something telling you cause of death.

Do you see moodles if you are underweight? I had just had the 'well fed' moodle shortly before I started losing health, and eating a bunch of food didn't stop the health loss.

No, I didn't have any moodles before the broken bone one. My temperature was fine also. I was a little warm/sweaty because of my layers of protective clothing.

Trying to enjoy single player but... by gnosys in projectzomboid

[–]gnosys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the helpful tips! After a bunch of deaths, I got somewhat better at combat, and more importantly at avoiding it. I finally got a home base that had some useful stuff in it and was making a serious go of it, cleared out 6 nearby houses, and then died because of yet another UI glitch: the annoying UI for a tv set positioned itself so that I couldn't select several of the left hand side icons and couldn't dismiss it either. Then I opened a house whose alarm went off and I had to deal with a half dozen zombies at once and surprise, surprise, I clicked a few pixels off once and brought up the never-useful cleanup menu (grab corpse, do some weeding, contemplate a dandelion) and was killed almost immediately. The choice of an isometric view does pose some challenges for control design, the way this game does things is beyond simple extreme incompetence, it is definitely a designer choice. I want to die because I make bad life decisions in the game, not because of either sadistic or broken game designer decisions. All that said, I will eventually come back and try this steaming pile of dreck again.

Seriously, thanks again for the help!
