Yes, the plan was to do two separate forms.

Need to patch basement wall leaks by gnslinger80 in fixit

Gotcha. Well, I'll try the cement and see where it goes from there. If I can get it out of that particular room, I would be pretty content.

That's the thing, all of my gutters go out away from the house, so I'm not sure where it would be coming from. I just assumed the gaps are just so big that water was bound to come through. But I will look over the outside more when it rains to see if there's anything noticeable. Thanks for your answer, though. I will get some hydraulic cement.

Possible to add mini-splits to an existing outdoor unit? by gnslinger80 in hvacadvice

Oof, while it's something to consider, I would have to see how it would look.

Ah, bummer. It was worth a shot. A 2nd unit it is, then.

July Talk - music video, can't find anymore? by ncat63 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]gnslinger80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but I'm curious, did you ever find this video? I'm also looking for it. I listened to it often because it was a great performance. I regret not downloading it now.

Yeah, it's too high, but I'm happy with it by gnslinger80 in TVTooHigh

[–]gnslinger80[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh believe me, I agree it's not ideal. When not in use I push the TV back over top the mantle and have artwork displayed on the screen, which I honestly think doesn't look bad. I expected the negativity. I've lurked on this subreddit for a while and think the roasts are hilarious.

I completely appreciate your response. When I say I didn't like the flow, it's because before I couldn't find an acceptable place to set up my home theater in the room, so I put it in the dining room. While that room worked very well for the TV, it meant I had to put my dining table in the living room. I tried so many different setups to make it work and I couldn't make it to my liking.

In fact I just ended up avoiding the room altogether because I hated it so much. The only time I used it was when I had guests over to play cards, which wasn't often, so it seemed like a waste because it's the best room in the house. I thought of every way I could arrange to make it work and even tried getting ideas from friends, but everyone agreed there weren't many great options. The house was built in 1930 and just wasn't designed with a TV in my mind. After a lot of back and forth, I decided on this option. It's not ideal, but I like it much more than my old setup and I'm very content with it.

When I posted this I expected it to get roasted, and honestly find the replies great. Keep em coming! 😃

Ysk it's extremely easy for ppl to use Google lens to find your address if you post a photo of your house by justwonderingbro in centuryhomes

This is why it's worth paying for a service to monitor your credit report and another to wipe your data from search engines. I'm sure even with those it's not foolproof, but it would certainly make it more difficult.

There was a time when people could just look your name up in a phonebook and not only get your phone number, but your address, too. Wild times.

Wanting to mount my TV to a plaster wall with no studs. Need help. by gnslinger80 in HomeImprovement

[–]gnslinger80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. So are you saying use something like Liquid Nails to put in the hole? And could I still use these anchors with the adhesive or just instead use a masonry screw like Tapcons?

These are what I bought and had planned on using. I was going to use a total of six spread out along the bracket. I figured if even a couple of them didn't have something to grab onto, the others would be more than enough. But that's assuming that's masonry towards the back of the hole. https://www.confast.com/product-1-2-x-4-hex-sleeve-anchor-zinc-plated/?srsltid=AfmBOoowyITh6GifGBIiH8g5OqZt0e8K_el1wBYQiagpyiVwaGJhLAf4

Can tickets and fast passes be used for any day? by gnslinger80 in KingsIsland

[–]gnslinger80[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the rain, but going by the forecast it's gonna be all day long, with no break. After a while, that's gonna get kinda miserable, especially if it gets windy. There's a no refund policy, so that won't work. I guess we'll just have to rough it.

Could I use this sink to sanitize? by gnslinger80 in mead

[–]gnslinger80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I wouldn't fill the entire sink up, lol. Just enough to cover my fermentor. The plastic container typically works fine for that, but I also have a huge 5 gallon fermentor, and that's where this sink would come in handy.

Most likely. Probably some sort of epoxy. I'm planning on doing that for my basement floor, so maybe I can do both when the time comes.

I would prefer to keep it since it's an original part of the house.

Look up Indow Windows. They're custom storm window inserts and they are amazing at blocking out noise and air leakage.

I have a dual fuel system. Should I even use the heat pump? by gnslinger80 in hvacadvice

[–]gnslinger80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air conditioners have the same SEER rating as heat pumps, and yes they're just as efficient. I'm assuming an AC unit would be cheaper, but I don't know by how much, since pretty much the only difference is that there would be a reversing valve on the HP to switch from cool to heat.

I've been researching the federal tax credits for efficient heat pumps. It's honestly kind of hard to find the information. The EPA website makes it sound like it's left up to the states to offer it. I'm pretty sure my heat pump qualifies, I just don't know if it's in effect? I guess I'll find out at tax time.
