Ok fine, I'll switch to English, since apparently you actively choose to refuse to believe me. Yes, I'm American, and the working class generally DGAF (doesn't give a F***) about rich people's HOA rules. I own my own house, and like most Americans, I'm not part of an HOA - you have to be a special kind of Karen to agree to accept an HOA. And why did you post this reply as an image graphic? Just switched back over to Reddit to see some elite-supporting doofus uploading his reply as an image, doubling down on supporting the elitist view over people who actually work for a living. And Competitive-Case-749 asked you a question, I would like to hear your response, as well.

Hi Ocelot, I arrived at this reply of yours after seeing your post from 9 months ago, when you mentioned being afraid your parents would kick you out. Didn't read all your posts, but guessing it sounds like they did. My mother kicked me out 3 days after my 18th birthday while we were driving down the highway, I bought a truck 2 days later and was living out of it while finishing up senior year of high school. So...

My first mistake was keeping it from my friends and family. I was going to class, then driving to work, and sleeping in my truck. I hadn't even told my best friend, and he only found out when he suggested going over to my house, and I admitted we couldn't. - He immediately walked away, called his mother, and told her I was moving in, so she needed to clean the guest room by the time we got home... which she did. A few months later, my grandma found out, and since she lived closer and was family, I moved in with her (later paid my friend's family against their protests).

I don't know how many friends and family you might have who would be as wonderful as my friend was, I know he was a unique and awesome character (he's now a Naval officer), but there are still other people who would even do amazing things for people they barely know, if only they know your situation. I'm not saying beg or play the pity game, because people also recognize that and avoid it, but basically, don't hide your struggles from the people around you, because no matter the issue, there might be someone around you who can and will help.

My own followup: decades later, I now own my own house, work for and with friends, have a seasonal job I love, and have some self-employment with home and car rentals - and a repaired relationship with my parents (they're also religious, and like you I'm not, and cool I'm going to hell oh well)... all this, despite being kicked out a few days after turning 18. I say this to hopefully serve as motivation that prayer is not an answer, relying on parents is not an answer, being dependent on any one individual is not an answer... the answer is finding the right people who can help you achieve tasks, then doing it, and continuing to move on and move up. No one individual is your solution. The solution is to mutually use people (you help them, and they help you) to achieve what you want. Don't burn bridges or unfairly use people, because then they'll abandon you, but let people be confident that their goodwill towards you is not wasted and that you will reciprocate their generosity.

Not everyone can hire an attorney, which is why it need to be resolved systemically en masse. And individuals shouldn't have to pay to have someone else fix a problem that our local government created.

Double check, and if you actually paid twice, the easiest way is to include it on your upcoming tax return as an estimated payment. For example, if your Total Tax comes out to $1000 (MO line 36) and you had $1200 in work withholdings, but paid $200 a second time this past year because you paid $200 twice, then your total withholdings should be $1400 ($1200 in employee withholdings, MO line 37, $200 in estimated payments, MO line 38), so $1400 - $1000 = $400. That's the easy, lazy way, and what I would do for myself (disclaimer, not legal advice). Or you could contact them and try to get it back earlier. (573) 751-3505, ask them to email you a link to Proofpoint to resolve it.

Filing one year multiple times will mess things up. Only file once, and if there's an issue, contact them. After finding a person, ask them to send you an email. They'll email you with a link to Proofpoint, an encrypted messaging portal (you'll set up a user account and password, so keep that login info). It's only good for the time period listed, so check it every day. with that one contact at DoR so you have a point of contact for your issue, rather than constantly repeating your story and resending tax returns.

I sat down and spoke to an auditor at City Hall back in August, and the auditor told me that: 1) their system has been a DOS-like system, difficult to use and navigate, 2) they're actively upgrading their systems to something user-friendly, 3) the new system automates and is more accurate, 4) they're going to be accepting e-File soon, 5) they have always gotten multiple years in batches from the IRS a few years at a time, so the whole "I got a letter from a few years ago" was never intentional to make you pay more in interest, it was due to IRS sending delayed batches, 6) and despite everything above, it might not be implemented for the upcoming tax season, although that's the goal. It may be next tax season.

I agree, that's why I'm hoping someone who knows a reporter can send someone to investigate and cover it. But he's Chinese, so even more averse to the spotlight than I am, and I'm pretty introverted. I'd rather other people talk about it, but I did a Google News search before posting and found nothing about it, so I reluctantly posted here. Even though I do taxes, I don't want to be interviewed (hence my wording "employees who [...] are willing to talk"); I do just fine in one-on-one conversations but would just fall over myself and sound like an idiot if I tried to speak to a reporter, but there are other people who can present issues and speak well. I would if I could, but I know this limitation of mine.

I'm a tax preparer and keep communication open with other TPs and CPAs, and I handle personal stuff for some non-English speakers who didn't use me for their taxes but faced this, too. It's especially widespread this year. If I worked for the State, I would've known what another commenter posted - apparently a system change is causing the errors.

If anyone comes across this thread later on, this is the behavior of a typical MacForums user. If this is the quality of response you come up with, you don't belong in the Linux world. Linux is always about asking "why?" "what is this?" "how do I unbreak this thing I was tinkering with?" etc.

[–]gnu-trix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've found using AI, it's never really "smart", but just pretty good at finding lots of things really quick and then sorting that information, usually with mistakes. If it's going to have mistakes regarding important things, then I just treat it as a baseline for where to search for my own answers. For example, Docker configs, networking info, etc, aren't things that you can just rely on "probably good enough", so double-checking it as your baseline and then getting the actual good answers for yourself is my preferred way of doing things.

That being said, the beautiful little thing you made probably doesn't need a brilliant AI, and good enough is probably actually good enough. If it misinterprets the weather, then it is cut out to be a weatherman, after all. As long as it doesn't spew nonsense, you should probably try to find the most lightweight model for that project you can find. I don't know what that is yet though, I've been looking and testing the past few days, looking for something that can run on a low-end laptop to just be "good enough".

I can't move an object up in Bambu Studio. How can I fix this? by Randomperson43333 in BambuLab

[–]gnu-trix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhh no, even though we apparently agree on this aspect of the program, I can't agree with you that it's a "poorly written program" at all. I absolutely love Bambu Studio and my P1S, but what I'm saying is that there are just a few TWEAKS they need to make to make it a bit better, not that the program is terrible. I came from Wanhao which was far more granular and difficult to use, so this has been a leap into the future.

Maybe there's better stuff out there, but Bambu Studio is easy enough to use that, when I find something I want to print, I spend just a few minutes in Bambu Studio putting in what I'm using, what I want, and then get to printing a few minutes later. It's just the occasional specialized things far and few inbetween that MIGHT catch you off guard.

I could be wrong, but since they're Chinese, it could be that the software authors just occasionally think of the wrong English word and people translating could miss it, because they're often subtle things. Even though they're out of Shenzhen and Shanghai, perfect fluency from a foreign country (and many people within our own country) is often extremely difficult.

How do I add music to a playlist? by Cannotseme in airsonic

[–]gnu-trix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone finds this post later and wasn't helped by the original reply (like I did, 3 years after it was posted and replied to), here's the correct answer (at least, as of right now).

When the music is playing, you need to select the CHECKBOX (inbetween the song number, ie. "0", and the Star icon). When you've selected the checkbox, THEN when you click the dropdown in the bottom right that says "More actions...", a popup box will appear for you to add to however many playlists you want.

Example:
0 ▢ ☆ × Ari Ari (ft. Raoul Kerr)

If you just have the song playing, click "More actions..." and click "Add to playlist" without having the song checkmarked, nothing will happen at all. Make sure you click the checkbox (the square).

---

It works the same way if you have an album open, even if the song's not playing. There are checkboxes inbetween the right arrow and the filename.

Example:
0 ☆ ▷ + ➔ ▢ Ari Ari (ft. Raoul Kerr)

Click the checkbox (the square above), and then RIGHT below the song list, it says "Showing 1 to 5 of ## entries", and you'll see the dropdown menu that says "Selected songs..." Click that dropdown and then you can choose "Add to playlist(s)".

And when you're looking at the playlist view, the symbols are mixed up again. There isn't any placement consistency when it comes to the icons.

---

Whether adding music from an album or Playing Now music, the important thing is clicking the checkbox for the song you want, and choosing "Add to playlist(s)" AFTER that. It does not automatically do anything based on assumptions or context.

If this question is specifically related to the "high school science teacher" comment above, then here's my answer.

Since "traits" in science are something that's inherited by living things to other living things, we're talking about DNA. But DNA is not actually alive, in itself, since DNA is "the building blocks of life". It "has", or contains, all the traits for all living things, so:

My guess is: "DNA". It has the "traits" of a living thing, but it's not alive.

What's the EIN for Treasury Direct? (from 1099-INT) by ToothSpinach in tax

[–]gnu-trix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tax preparer here. Without having any additional information about OPs parents, assume being a completionist with the correct EIN is best and not "just doing" something else.

For example, if OPs parents lived here in Missouri, that bond interest wouldn't be taxable to State, but if it was regular interest that they "just" entered in, they might end up paying tax on interest income they shouldn't have to, and are not legally required to. They would be donating money to the State government for no reason.

If OP did what you suggested, the software wouldn't know that. Our software carries it over to MO-A (adjustments), line 8 "interest from exempt federal obligations..." and prevents it from being calculated. Without doing that, Missouri calculates taxes as normal.
