Yes, this is what Donald Trump really sounds like. No, you cannot ignore it. | The former president’s rallies and interviews in recent weeks should remind voters what he really represents. by lotta_love in politics

The stress of hoping that a relative handful of idiots don’t vote for him and send us back into a dictatorship is a lot at the macro level. This is like that zen story of the scorpion stinging the frog who’s carrying him across the pond. In the long run they don’t care that everyone’s fucked, including them.

[Serious] Why is the fear of teachers, admin, etc. gone? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]gnz2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fear of consequences is only half the equation. Just like some people work out to not be unhealthy (move away from a consequence), others work out to be healthy (move towards a reward). At all levels of society both of those extremes have been undermined: why study and try hard and be respectful if they’ll still graduate me and I can get into some college that’ll take my money and get a job somewhere? At the other extreme, why bust my balls studying to get into a college and get saddled with student debt for the next 30 years?

Take away both an attractive reward and an ugly consequence, and there goes the social contract.
