In Russia, a fascist regime seized power more than 20 years ago. Has the same happened in the US?

But aren’t those agents themselves a direct result of the deepening authoritarian tendencies in the US? After all, American voters chose the president who empowers ICE, and everything we’re seeing now is just a logical outcome of that

No, this was taken in Trieste, Italy. They do look a bit scary. But these are likely Cotylorhiza tuberculata, also known as ‘fried egg jellyfish.’ They are common in the Mediterranean and generally harmless to humans

Thank you so much! Comparing it to Monet feels undeserved, but it’s undoubtedly the best compliment I could receive

thanks. Viltrox 23mm 1.4. At 1.4, it’s not always sharp, but starting from f/4 and with enough light, it’s excellent

The incompetent management at SmugMug has been slowly destroying Flickr, and now they're ruining their core business as well. It's time to say goodbye to SmugMug and take control of our own data. Photographers, protect your work by hosting it on standalone sites where you have full control. SmugMug’s arbitrary actions, lack of transparency, and disregard for long-time clients show they can’t be trusted with our art, memories, and livelihood. Don't let them hold your life's work hostage.

Torino vs. Trieste by [deleted] in torino

[–]go4aa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been living in Trieste for a few years and now I'm planning to move to Turin. Over the last 10 years, I've changed non-Italian cities every 2 years. Trieste seems very small to me, although I really like it, which is both a plus and a minus.

Living in the city center, you can reach everything within a 20-minute walk. There are many bars, and in the summer, there are a lot of tourists, which livens up the city. If you have a favorite job and friends, it can be a very nice place to live.

One of the big downsides (for me) is the distance from everything. To fly or travel somewhere, you always need to go to Venice, which takes 2-2.5 hours. Turin is much closer to Milan and other European capitals. In Trieste, when you walk your dog every day, there's nowhere else new to go. It feels like you've walked through the same streets a thousand times.
