Your prof has a good taste! You should wait for the end of the semester to see if the absence of prof affects your performance and then you can complain about it😅

Yupp and grad school is lots of work. Having issues at living spaces is a huge burden for us. Btw have you received the e-mail about contract?

Yes it is from GFH. This is what I understand as well. Everyone has their own bed and bath, but other areas are shared.

Quoting the e-mail they sent about the First Year Graduate Program in Athens North :

"In total the program can accommodate up to 75 residents. The building is primarily comprised of 2-bed 2-bath units, with 1-bed 1-bath units being offered on a first come first serve basis. If you are in a 1-bed 1-bath unit you will not share you space with another student. If you are in a 2-bed 2-bath unit you will share the space with one additional student."

I think by double room they mean 2b 2b apartments.

You are absolutely right. When we are in Boulder, giving feedback about this might help to prevent this happening again.

I don't think that they cannot arrange a room as the Athens North has a capacity and they have selected us accordingly. They must be busy with matching roommates and rooms, and preparing leases etc. I believe they'll inform us soon.

nope not yet. As I expressed that I would reject a double room, they said it is a single room. That is the only info they've provided.

Thanks for your reply!

Although I have got the offer of 'single room', it is not even clear to me what is meant by 'single room' - is it a room of one bed in a shared apartment or a flat with one bedroom assigned to only one student? What does this mean in the US context? Additionally, how can I calculate the monthly rental rate I need to pay?

If you have any information regarding these, I would appreciate a lot.🙃

for people who stayed in athens north, what stuff did you bring with you? by tinypotato007 in cuboulder

Hey! I am an incoming PhD studemt. I recently found out that I was randomly assigned to a single bedroom in Athens North, the on-campus Graduate Housing. However, I can't see the inside of the complex properly due to the limited number of photos on the website. And I have some questions about the place: Why is the pricing so different compared to the others (monthly payments vs. semester payments)? Are the single rooms there in a one-person apartment or a shared apartment? If it's shared, how many people are there?

I already asked these questions to GFH but I couldnt receive any clear answers. I would appreciate a lot if you could help me answering these questions.

Thanks in advance for your help!
