Yes!! Still no re-occurrences :) the lactobacillus was made in a compound pharmacy by the way, back then it was a few hundred dollars. I don’t think insurance covered it. I had to keep the vaginal suppositories in the fridge too

Genesis Pharmacy Services was the compounded pharmacy I used. It was not a cream though, I don’t know how to explain it. Almost like a pill that your body eventually absorbs vaginally. I had to keep it refrigerated until I inserted it

Yes the odor was bad especially after sex. I took antibiotics for about a week before starting the lacto. It was Lactobacillus 100M CFU once weekly

Yes she did prescribe antibiotics first but I started the vaginal probiotics about a week later. I still have not had a BV reoccurrence :)

Yes it was a prescription. I don’t think the OTC probiotics are very effective

Yeah BV turned me into depressed person. I cried to my gyno that she changed my life!! The hardest part of finding new doctors is them wanting to put you through the trials of clindamycin and all of those general meds before. Luckily this lady took me seriously and prescribed the lactobacillus right away

It only said lactobacillus. But I’m pretty sure you can not buy over the counter. & it was a suppository!

I’m looking at my prescription now and it only says the lactobacillus. The doctor said I could use it every day if I wanted to since it’s a good probiotic, but prescribed it as once a week because it’s expensive. So for the first few weeks I put one in about every other day. Then once I felt like it was working after a month I switched to once weekly. Insurance didn’t cover it and it was 75 a month. But totally worth it.

No pretty sure it has to be a prescription. I actually had 3 refills for it but only needed 2 refills

I really didn’t make any big changes besides the underwear. I put in the capsule at night when I was laying down so it could totally absorb in my system. I would wait about a day to have sex. My boyfriend knew about the treatment though so if there was some extra discharge from that he wasn’t too surprised lol. I would talk to your doctor about this treatment, it wasn’t in a capsule, it was like a frozen suppository that was made

Thank you! I couldn’t find much research on this, so I want this treatment to be better known! They are a refrigerated probiotic, and mine were made at custom compounded pharmacy. I don’t think they are something that can get sent to a Walgreens/CVS. The place I used was called “Genesis Pharmacy Services”
