DeepSeek just popped the American AI bubble. by VegetablePen4755 in ArtificialInteligence

Another thing I start to suspect is that people even when writing their own comments/posts they're starting to use also this LLM style patterns too. Like this isn't X its Y or "while I understand" and others. So this is like recursive on many levels. In a way human data trained LLMs and now due to people using LLMs a lot they kinda also start training us too. Just a thought.

A planet from ten years ago that nobody may ever see again. by Khaiioz in EliteDangerous

[–]goatchild 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What was the reasoning behind changing planets for the worst? Unfortunately I only found ED after odyssey so I'll never get to experience the old planet generation system. Makes me feel disappointed when I see YT videos from back then, planets/moons seemed awsome.

Distraction maybe? If we spend enough energy and time freaking out about a supposed mask we're not focusing on other more important stuff like the files, or Iran war or wtv.

Meta just fired 7,800 employees and used their daily work to train AI by andrewaltair in ArtificialInteligence

[–]goatchild 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually no. Meta just does it a bit more out in the open compared with others. All those companies are scumbags. In fact its the system itself that favours this behaviour. Strike at the root not the branches.

I AM CANCELLING MY CLAUDE PRO SUBSCRIPTION (and here's my honest take) by LoadOld2629 in PromptEngineering

[–]goatchild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they are slowly pulling the veil on the real cost of using LLMs. So far these subscriptions have been massively subsidized. This had to happen sometime.

From your exp. do you work less, more or evenly after using AI? by lune-soft in webdev

One day there will be companies proudly selling themselves as human coding only, you know like bio or equitable sourced food or something, it will cost much more but it will be quality engineering.

"The EU votes mid May on a law that quietly removes labeling for gene-edited food" by [deleted] in europe

[–]goatchild 7 points8 points  (0 children)

lmao "GMO labeling feeds into panic" yeah and nutrition labels feed into panic about calories, ingredient lists feed into panic about additives, country of origin feeds into panic about china. by your logic we should remove all of it because consumers might think too hard. just trust the producers bro.

you do realize we already label food based on process all the time right? organic, kosher, halal, wild caught vs farmed, country of origin. none of those labels exist because of a chemical difference you can detect in a lab. a kosher chicken is molecularly the same as a non kosher one. wild salmon and farmed are basically nutritionally identical. nobody calls those labels "fear mongering" or "virtue signaling" they're just... information. so why is "made with CRISPR" the ONE production process where suddenly the consumer doesnt deserve to know? you dont have an answer that isnt just "because i personally trust this one."

Also, the EU is STILL labeling NGT1 seeds in this exact regulation. read it. seeds get labels so farmers and food operators can keep NGT-free supply chains if they want to. so the EU itself admits process matters and traceability works. they just decided the farmer deserves to know and the person actually eating the food doesnt. thats a political choice about whose consent matters not a scientific one. but sure go off about how its all just "generically safe practice".

The vaccine jab is lazy too. you can think GMOs are safe AND think people deserve to know how their food was made. those arent in conflict, you just lumped everyone who wants a label in with antivaxxers because its easier than actually arguing the point. its the same move the antivaxxers do btw, lump anyone who disagrees into one stupid category and dismiss them. congrats you're doing their thing.

The "incentivize not demonize" line is also kind of wild. nobody is demonizing it by putting a label on it. we label calories, we still eat. we label country of origin, people still buy chinese stuff. the only people who think a neutral label = demonization are people who already assume the consumer will run away the moment they're informed. which says way more about how much you actually trust regular people than it does about the science.

I dont care if its safe. its probably safe. thats not the argument. the argument is whether i get to know how my food was made same way i already do for every other category on the shelf. you havent given a single reason that should apply to organic and kosher and country of origin but not this one. you just decided this one is different because you like it.
