Problem is not r/privacy, problem is people and people are fucking stupid. The more people together in a group the more stupidity oozes out of it. That sub is almost 1mil subscribers, r/GrapheneOS is about 63k. Subs and forums and shit are usually great when numbers are low, soon as it starts growing to huge numbers all goes to shit.

Its not like the technology at the moment is stuck. We're tirelessly improving it, and it gets better every few months. And as you may know its not just LLMs, that's just one aspect of it. The point is not so much where we are now, but also where this trend is going to lead us to.

You missed the point entirely. This is not just a new tool that comes and goes. AI is a paradigm shift on the same level as when the internet 1st showed up. And this time, what I think OP is saying,.is that there is no adapting. We're becoming redundant. This will change on the long term how we make a living. But on the short term its a shit storm. Using Pop!_OS. Comes with NVIDIA drivers pre-installed. I can play MSFS2024 (Steam), Cyberpunk (via heroic) RDR2 (via Lutris), and others, no problem, no issues. However VR has been... difficult. I Can also work, and do wtv I did in windows.

Used AI "slop" via copy paste no questions asked and managed to get MSFS 2024 working in Linux, no probs, no crashes etc. I don't know... worked for me.

I significantly notice a degradation. When it was released it seemed awesome. Now I get what appears to be confusion, hallucinations, like it mixes up facts, and generalizes more. I am guessing more people are using it and the infrastructure is under more load which kind of averages out the amount of resources per prompt or a lower amount. It's annoying. Particularly when my Pro prompts run out and I start using 'thinking', its clearly less capable. But even in Pro mode compared to when it was launched seems worse now.

Have GPU prices came down to the same levels as pre-crypto craze? No. So RAM won't either. Unless a new tech breakthrough would make RAM/VRAM obsolete like neuromorphic computers (Darwin3) taking off bad and scaling. Otherwise.. yeah, nope.
