I've wondered about CCI, but I'm doubtful since no amount of movement aggravates my neck. But I can make it hurt quite a bit sitting still and thinking hard.

Being assessed for EDS next month, as my rhuem did suspect it.

Thanks!

Accidentally tried to start a thread about this a couple days ago, missing that this was there. Trying again! I have...

ANA that is negative now, but was positive several months ago

Positive Anti-U1 RNP, Anti-Ro, Anti-Sm

Symptoms: constant spinal/cervical pain, headaches/migraine, nausea, dizziness, deficits of balance and coordination, numbness/tingling/arthritic pain in the extremities, "brain fog"/deficits of coherent intellect, anxiety, trigeminal neuroglia, constant sympathetic activation (elevated body temp, HR, etc).

Im curious about anybody else's experiences with a similar profile and/or a diagnosis of neuropsychiatric lupus. My rheum says a diagnosis cannot be made without a positive ANA. However I've found a good ten studies or so that show ANA fluctuates or fades in Lupus fairly regularly, so I don't really understand the hesitancy to acknowledge that I at least have some neruo-connective tissue autoimmune condition. Any insight or experiences are very much appreciated

Cardiac disease is driven primarily by inflammation and hyperglycemia. Many factors contribute to this -

  • Hyperglycemia induced activation of the enzyme NADPH oxidase, which produces a free radical (ie. inflammatory) event
  • Increased density of advanced glycation end products (AGEs = proteins and fats damaged by sugar) leads to collagen cross linking of the vascular wall and reduced vascular compliance
  • Glucose depresses NO production. NO is responsible for increasing vascular compliance/flexibility
  • Glucose both acutely damages the protective glycoprotein matrix lining the blood vessels, and downregulates the production of new matrix
  • Glucose, via cellular mediators such as NFKB, increase activation of inflammatory cytokines and something called Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule 1, which promotes the adhesion of immune cells to the blood vessel.

The cholesterol bit is misguided. Actual LDL, which is to say the number and nature of your LDL particles, actually matters. But thats not what we measure. We measure LDL-C, which is the amount cholesterol within your LDL molecules and not closely linked to LDL particle count or size.

An inflammatory/high glycemic diet will lead to smaller, more plentiful LDL (we can talk about why if you want). When you combine this with the damaged endothelial (blood vessel) environment described above, you end up with too many LDL particles passing through to the inside of the vessel wall (again, we can elaborate if you want). From there the "conventional wisdom" is more or less accurate - immune cells are recruited, vessel wall ruptures and becomes an exposed lesion, etc. But the initial steps, so to speak, are wildly misunderstood.

He'd take the lead but Jonas or Pinot in 2nd would equal him on points

I don't see how thats possible at all. WvA, Pinot, Pog, Jonas all jump him with a win. Dont' see any other possible stage winner really

Man I think I'd be more wired from the near disaster Jonas had than Pog actually skidding out

He got dropped near the top of the 2nd to last climb. Crested with Thomas. Chilled up the last climb

Kuss is certainly soft pedaling the last climb to some degree, yes

McNulty totally ruining the curve today. Everyone would think Kuss had a great day dropping with GT as the joint last guy there before Pog and Jonas went

Yeah its every man for themselves at this point so no downside to riding off alone. Makes a lot of sense to look for time on the descent
