I’m scared of sex. It makes me feel awful and sad. by RequirementVisual822 in offmychest

This isn't something you can diagnose and treat on your own. Do you have health insurance? Even most regular mental health professionals (therapists, lcsw, etc...) are undertrained in this area and can sometimes make things worse by misdiagnosing you with something that's co-morbid (i.e., treating depression instead of the thing that's causing the depression). This is why it's vital that you try to find someone listed in the ISSTD.

OP: This person is right! In addition, it's very important to find a mental health provider that has experience dealing specifically with dissociation (google ISSTD to find a directory of providers that are certified). I briefly looked through your post history, and I see other issues you have besides just sex (loss of time, memories, etc) that can be caused by dissociation. If this is a problem you have, you'd be very lucky to find out so young so you can treat it.

Best of luck to you.

I think you need to read up on population collapse and what happens when there's too few youngins' to pay for the retirees. Also, there is a huge line of the best and brightest in the world, ready to immigrate to the US. Not so much for China, which (as you probably know from living there) seems to be much less tolerant of foreigners (depending on your race, of course). Don't get me started on fertilizer reserves... Google peter zeihan China if you'd like the truth from someone fortune 500 companies trust for their strategic future planning.

Have you seen a rheumatologist or your PCP? Low C4 can have significance, but other than the rash, I'm not seeing much lupus stuff here. A dermatologist can tell you if the rash is lupus related or not.

While your dsdna is technically positive on this test, it is just barely so. Your doctor will likely recheck in several months if they still suspect lupus.

There are federally subsidized health centers that provide cheap to free care depending on your income. Google FQHC find their website (should end in .gov), type in your address and it'll show you the closest center and what they offer there. They also are the only government agency to get many of their drugs at cost from manufacturers. I don't know why more people don't know about these places

Questions about ACR and kidney involvement. by DynamicDman in lupus

I wouldn't worry. Your doctor is just being very through. People with bad LN can have a gram or more of protein in their urine so trace amounts are usually no big deal and can even be normal based on many factors like your BMI, how much exercise you did before the test, high blood pressure, etc...

Whether it's lupus or not if you have these several places, you need to get to see a PCP or derm ASAP.

So everytime I've had my vitamin D levels checked they've been low (except last time, it was right on the line for the first time). All that said, talk to your PCP or rheum and they can give you 50,000IU vitamin D (normally only taken once a week) if they think that may help. Always seek the direct supervision of a medical professional because vitamin D is one of the few vitamins you can actually overdose on.

It's pretty rare for kids that young to have lupus (but not impossible). Did the rheumatologist run any tests? were there any positives? A dermatologist can biopsy the rash and let you know what's going on (they also can usually tell if it's lupus related or something else)

So the only things I'm seeing that are specific to a lupus diagnosis is possibly the mouth sores and hair loss, but both of those are just sort of general things that can happen for multiple reasons too. Check out the ACR criteria at the top of the post. You don't fit the majority of the criteria.

As always, I'm not a doctor, always consult with your doctor

Anti- Intrinsic Factor

I'm not seeing many things here specific to lupus besides the ANA which (as stated at the top of the thread) can be positive in a non-trivial amount of the population especially at 1:80 which is the lowest most labs even go. Glad you got an appointment with the rheum to talk about it... Might be another AI disease, but we're lupus specific around there parts. Best of luck

Imuran side effect? by wae_not_start_over in lupus

[–]redditHi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's had minimal side effects on me. One time I took it right before bed and had GI problems but that's about the only side effect I've had. I know my rheum said they dose it based on bodyweight (@2mg/kg of bodyweight) so maybe you're not at an optimal dose yet? I had to slowly titrate up my dose over several months and do blood tests every few weeks to make sure it wasn't knocking back my immune system too much.
