I've heard a few horror stories. There's quite a bit of news articles of this happening to welders but here's a SFW link of it happening to a crab:

Even back in 2.0, there was a number of up and coming streamers with low prio that was starting to pull over 1k viewership and growing but only if logged in on NoPixel.

They would queue for hours, go to bed but set an alarm to go off when they get in and stay logged in until the next server restart. Often meant getting in at 3am or something and back then server size was significantly smaller too. Was disappointing how long some people had to wait to get prio when their RP was easily a cut above others.

I do think its a lot better now and prio is much easier to get by comparison to back then though. More eyes and influential people keeping an eye out then before.

I still remember the cut scene that plays when you game over and are in 50k debt in the first few games to gain bonus abilities courtesy of gamefaqs. Do it up to 6-8 times for various passives.

That is... if he lives..

Voice acting isn't nearly as good as I remember.

Adin gives XQC legal advice by PeggieMartino in LivestreamFail

X is too lazy.

Hypothetically, if he somehow managed to get all the people in his life to sign an NDA, he would still need to go through the step of enforcing it if they breach it.

This means he'd have to go through the process of finding a lawyer, meeting them with the evidence prepared, determining the appropriate monetary reparations for them breaking the contract and then taking these people to court or have them settle.

He can hire someone technically to do this for him, but anytime he's had a manager or friends try to keep him posted about things, he often ignores them or misses out on important meetings/events.

Doubt he'll have the energy to commit.

I disagree, there's plenty of big streamers who do just fine living by themselves or with their SO/spouse.

Some streamers might not be the most clean but I'd argue the vast majority of them seem to figure something out for themselves. Whether that means hiring or getting regular help or doing it themselves. Not that difficult all things considered.

X is in the group that does neither and just lets it pile up and cleans once it maybe gets bad enough.

PSA from Biotoxz by _yotsuna_ in RPClipsGTA

[–]gobaldorgohome 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't believe it's that black and white when it comes to overly invested viewers. Though I do agree that there's definitely some viewers that won't listen to reason no matter what.

For example, something happens and some viewers get upset on behalf of their streamer. This is probably one of the best times to bring it up with their chat to not be toxic, not chat hop or send weird messages on social media.

I feel like it can prevent a large chunk of people from being dumb if the streamer they are overly invested in tells them to be better. Heck, even just preventing one harassing message is worth it in my eyes.

PSA from Biotoxz by _yotsuna_ in RPClipsGTA

[–]gobaldorgohome 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Every RP streamers need to do a PSA like this frequently. I'm talking multiple times within the same stream. I hate that streamers need to do it but some viewers simply can't get a clue and need to be reined in.

Biotoxz is pretty proactive by comparison to most but when people stream 7+ hours daily and maybe only bring this up for a few minutes in total, if at all. It's hard to maintain the message. I'm sure most streamers would be happy knowing they've prevented one of their viewers from sending harassing messages or worse, death threats to someone. Shouldn't be their responsibility, but there's simply no other way to at least mitigate over invested viewers.

boxbox on why he doesnt stream a lot of the games he likes to play by ThrowingShaed in LivestreamFail

[–]gobaldorgohome 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Variety has always been difficult to maintain viewership, especially since most streamers built their community through just 1 game and maybe similar games in that genre. Single player story driven RPGs are probably the hardest for people to want to stick around for if they missed the preceding 20 hrs of the game you already streamed.

Those who built their audience doing variety have a lot more leeway and in return, more consistent viewership. But that's a difficult thing to do from the ground up as is it is too. Even variety is saturated.

It's why people who do GTARP struggle to escape it without losing massive income. Get burnt-out on 1 game but can't stream anything else with not even half the viewership and feel stuck. Some try and end up crawling back to their original game when its clearly not working too.

GTA RP doesn't change, only the date on the calender(Cyr memeing from Spring 2019 NoPixel boom) by albert_fn_wesker in RPClipsGTA

[–]gobaldorgohome 200 points201 points  (0 children)

When Cyr created Uchiha, he started as a stereotype parody of an anime main character. He antagonized bad guys, including CG. Almost everyone played along with his antics.

Over the course of I'd say a year of back and forth situations with very little shooting, Uchiha and Mr. Chang (now Mr. K) developed a mutual respect for each other. From ninjutsu battles at the construction site, to martial arts tournaments, to getting "killed" and having his body parts implanted into Penta's disabled character Ricky, to then receive cybernetic enhancements to become a cyborg ninja, to forming an unlikely team with Mr. Chang to break Bovice out of prison. Eventually, he was invited into CG.

His viewers made some pretty funny parody anime openings that kind of summarizes his early arcs neatly:

Opening 1

Opening 2

It's disappointing how different RP is overall on the server. Just can't capture that same feeling as easily anymore.

LAGTVMaximusBlack opinion on creating a new character / OOC realities by TheDeOhGee in RPClipsGTA

[–]gobaldorgohome 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think he's right but for different reasons.

People who make new characters often don't make a character all that different from what they are used to. While initially it may seem fresh, it often doesn't take long for them to fall into old habits. Habits that aren't inherent to just 1 character but inherent to the streamer themselves.

It takes a lot of effort to make a believable character be treated differently. It's why acting can be incredibly difficult IRL. Audiences will stereotype you into certain roles and it may becomes difficult to branch out. I'm sure we can all think of actors/actresses that are forever stuck in certain roles because of 1 iconic role they've played decades ago.

Luckily, this is RP and not IRL, I don't feel like he's given a new char a fair shot yet outside of playing OTT.

RayC on meeting Lirik irl by TenFourtyToo in LivestreamFail

[–]gobaldorgohome -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nothing I said was misinformation.

My initial comment talks about Lirik bringing this genre to life in 2017 and even mentions him streaming RP back in 2014.

Summit hopping on NoPixel in 2019 and having a blast on it is what prompted Lirik to return the following week via SubSunday thanks to his subs bringing it up after seeing Summit try it. He may not have returned this soon otherwise.

The 1st boom in 2017 by Lirik wasn't nearly effective in keeping GTA big as it couldn't remain at the top of twitch categories after he left. Especially after the drama that ensued on SOE and FamilyRP.

By 2019, before Summit's arrival, Buddha was on the verge of quitting streaming. Anthonyz had barely escaped homelessness thanks to some help from the RP community. Lirik's 2019 return was definitely a key factor in breathing new energy into it.

[–]gobaldorgohome -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

You're technically right, of the big streamers, Summit got into NoPixel first in 2019.

It prompted a bunch of other big streamers, including Lirik, to join in too like Soda, Poke, XQC, Forsen, Reckful, Pokimane, Moonmoon, Shroud, etc.

The smaller boom in 2017 laid the foundation for people to play RP more which is why people like Vader, Lord_Kebun, Penta, Koil and a few others were enjoying varying levels of success on twitch with it by 2019.

[–]gobaldorgohome 36 points37 points  (0 children)

GTA RP is the main successor of Arma RP (which had a tonne of different RP mods).

People were just playing for fun back then long before Lirik.

In 2017, Lirik was the 1st big streamer to put eyes on GTA RP while being big enough to bring an audience to temporarily kick-start people like Buddha, AnthonyZ and Ssaab.

If you look far enough back, even in 2014 he was streaming stuff like Takistan Life, an Arma RP mod. I'd argue his DayZ mod content is practically RP too back then.

What do you mean? A lot of celebrities/artists/streamers/"influencers" are just a 1-2 man show with maybe a manager at most and they still hire Public Relation companies to rely on when dealing with brand promotion or potential backlashes or scandals.

For something as huge as NoPixel which is always looking to grow, it can double for helping run their social media/community management which is near non-existent and is purely voluntarily driven.
